Show host Yoo Nan-hee revealed a tumultuous confession ranging from severe financial hardship during her marriage to depression.
On the 6th, the MBN variety show "Sokpuri Show Dongchimi" featured Lee Hye-jung, Yoo Nan-hee, Kim Mi-ryeong and Joo Young-hoon talking on the theme "Like father, like son."
That day Yoo Nan-hee opened by saying, "My husband ran a private clinic but he was too much like a Schweitzer, so the clinic went bankrupt." She said, "When a child is sick you should give medicine and injections, but my husband said, 'Go home and rest a few more days,' 'Just give them water to drink.'" which surprised the cast.
The cast admired, "He is a true doctor," "These people are meticulous so their consultation times are long," but Yoo Nan-hee honestly confessed, "From the wife's point of view it's not great."
In the end, her husband's clinic closed 10 years after opening. Yoo Nan-hee said, "I was stressed and had no money. The children were in middle school, so I sent them to my sister-in-law's house in Canada to study English and to give my husband a break. My mother also went because she worried about her son," and added, "Eventually my son, my mother-in-law and my husband began studying abroad," explaining how she started life as a gireogi (flight) mother.
The hardship did not end there. Yoo Nan-hee recalled, "I thought I had to make money so I started a business but was scammed. At that time my depression became severe. It was winter, it even snowed, and I became increasingly depressed."
She said a poem she posted on a blog she was running at the time escalated the situation. She said, "I wrote a poem wondering why I was living like this and the last line was 'champagne of death.' I went to take a bath and couldn't answer the phone. An acquaintance worried and called more than 300 times."
He returned home three hours later and witnessed a shocking scene. "There was 119 at the entrance, a red line was drawn at the front door, and people wearing forensic team uniforms were there. A report came in after someone saw the blog," she explained. However, she added, the husband showed a hurt reaction, saying, "You made trouble by writing a pointless blog," which made the situation more tragic.
