Singer Ailee candidly revealed her husband Choi Si-hoon's first impression.
On the 4th, the channel Go Eun unni Han Go-eun uploaded a video titled "The k-pop sibling Ailee I missed so much and talking about old America (Korean American, married life)."
In the video that day, Ailee and Choi Si-hoon appeared and had a meal with Han Go-eun and her husband while talking. That day, when Ailee was asked about her first meeting with her husband, "We have overlapping friends. I was going to meet that friend after a long time to chat, and I asked if it was okay to bring a close younger sibling along. We first met at that gathering. We weren't really in contact then. I didn't even know his contact information. I was preparing for a performance in October then. But my friend's birthday was around that time and my husband's birthday was also around then, so I said 'come see it together for a birthday,' and after seeing the performance my husband (fell for me)," she explained.
Han Go-eun said in surprise, "Wait, did he really fall for Ailee after seeing the performance?" and Choi Si-hoon explained, "It wasn't that he fell for her as a woman. He was impressed as an artist because she was so cool, and he only fell for her as a woman much later. We once had a deep talk, lasting until morning. That was when I was in Busan."
Ailee said, "Tell that story. I did the same performance in Busan. He said he would come to see it. Was he interested or not?" and Han Go-eun's husband asserted, "He was interested. Very much so." Choi Si-hoon clarified, "A close older brother really likes his wife, so..." and Ailee said, "He said he would come to Busan to see the performance he had already seen. I told him then to come."
Then Han Go-eun speculated, "I think it's like this. He respected her a lot as an artist and felt a great attraction. But he probably wondered, 'Could I dare love this woman?' So if there was a situation where he could be by her side, he would go. That must have been it," and Choi Si-hoon agreed, "That's right. That's what it was."
Ailee said, "After the Seoul performance, the staff were all able to have a company dinner, so the venue completely cleared the space and provided it. They said, 'If you have time sometime, I'd like to buy you a meal, thank you so much.' They didn't take any money. I was grateful for that. Not just one or two people but all my staff, and they provided alcohol and drinks without taking money, so I was so thankful that I said I'd buy a meal next time and asked for their contact information, but they kept refusing to give it to me."
Choi Si-hoon explained, "I felt it might have been said as a courtesy," and Han Go-eun showed understanding, "You didn't want to get hurt?" Ailee said, "I asked three times and finally asked, 'Are you really going to give it to me?' and then they gave it. They said they would come to the Busan concert, so I said I'd buy dinner in Busan. I had acquaintances living in Busan, so we all had a meal together and somehow ended up chatting continuously at the hotel. We stayed at the same lodging and talked all night; he was such a great person. At that moment I also realized, 'This person is much nicer than I thought,' and that was when my husband first saw me as a woman."
In particular, Ailee confessed about Choi Si-hoon, "When I first saw him his face was a bit more slender. Now he's gained weight. After marriage. Back then he was very slim and didn't smile much, and his shop was in Apgujeong. So when I first saw him I thought he was an Apgujeong playboy." Han Go-eun said, "That could be. He looks quite handsome." Ailee added, "So I had a bit of a prejudice and kept my distance, not exchanging contact information. But when I got to know him, he was such a genuine person. I felt I judged him too much by his appearance," she said, sharing her changed view.
Han Go-eun asked, "Who brought up marriage first?" and Choi Si-hoon said, "The topic came up very naturally." Ailee said, "We started dating with marriage in mind. Because our conversations flowed so well and we talked a lot about values from the beginning. So we took it as a premise."
Han Go-eun's husband said, "But rather than the two of them talking about marriage, people around them kept saying, 'I think you two will get married.' While they were just dating," and Choi Si-hoon explained, "When we had been dating for about two to three months my wife said, 'If we're going to get married, let's just do it quickly,' and I said, 'Let's do it.'" Ailee recalled the wedding process, "We booked the venue for next year first. They said you should reserve early. We made the reservation thinking we'd either have the wedding or not, and with that thought we went to make the reservation right away."
