XG (XG) member COCONA marked her 20th birthday with a meaningful confession.
On the 6th, COCONA revealed on XG's official SNS that she is 'AFAB Transmasculine non-binary' (AFAB transmasculine non-binary). This means a person who was designated female at birth but does not define themselves solely as female and forms an identity closer to masculinity or within that spectrum.
In the post, COCONA said, "Facing the major turning point of turning 20, I wanted to share a thought I have kept deep in my heart, even if only a little," explaining why she made the confession. She revealed, "I am AFAB transmasculine non-binary. I underwent chest reduction surgery this year," and added, "The hardest thing in my life was accepting and acknowledging myself. Now that I have been able to accept myself even a little and take even 0.1 step forward, I was able to open a new door."
In the accompanying photos, COCONA poses holding flowers wearing only a black jacket over her bare torso. The chest area exposed between the jacket shows the scars from the chest reduction surgery remaining as they are.
Finally, COCONA conveyed a meaningful message with courage, saying, "I hope this post can be even a small light in someone's heart. And I hope it reaches everyone who needs my love," and expressed deep gratitude to the members who accompanied her on the journey, executive producer JAKOPS (SIMON JUNHO PARK, JAKOPS), and her parents, saying that the process of accepting herself brought great growth.
JAKOPS, XG's executive producer and the agency's CEO, wrote on his personal SNS, "Today, when COCONA found the courage to share her heart with the world, I am filled with sincere emotion and deep respect," and said, "I will continue to provide sincere support so each person can be respected not only as an active artist but also as a human being and learn to love their life," offering words of encouragement and support.
He continued, "While I am truly proud of the dazzling music and visuals XG creates, what I most want to convey to the world is the members' pure and essential hearts. That genuine energy and love, and the growth as humans, are the core of our XG and XGALX," and added, "Eight years have passed since meeting XG, and as of today all the members have become adults. To commemorate this, we are first releasing the commemorative photos taken this year on Coming-of-Age Day," releasing photos with the members and adding meaning by showing the special and beautiful relationship between artist and producer.
COCONA's confession served once again to imprint XG's core identity of "courage, love and hope" on the world, and it raises expectations that the group will continue to present messages and performances that transcend boundaries and evolve further.
