'Singer-songwriter Yun Ddan Ddan (real name Yun Jong-hoon) spoke about his feelings and gave a personal update six months after allegations of assault and infidelity with his ex-wife Eun-jong surfaced. Earlier, while he had forcefully denied and confronted the assault video and various allegations Eun-jong released, in this post he acknowledged his wrongdoing yet expressed a determination to "live a better life."
In June, Yun Ddan Ddan said on social media that the assault video Eun-jong released was "only a part of an argument that lasted about two hours," and claimed it showed "a scene in which I endured the assault for nearly an hour, lost my composure and retaliated." He added, "I had to restrain Eun-jong because she would not calm down afterward."
He also denied the claims, saying, "Eun-jong repeatedly used abusive language and shouted, telling me to 'drop dead,'" and "There was a time when Eun-jong's finger was fractured after being assaulted while driving, and although Eun-jong recommended a psychiatric evaluation, all results came back normal."
Yun Ddan Ddan also continued to claim that Eun-jong demanded money from him. He said, "When I asked for a written agreement specifying the divorce date as a condition for handing over additional tracks, Eun-jong said, 'Then I'll expose you,'" and added, "This is evidence of an implicit agreement that there was a monetary demand." He also questioned the motive behind Eun-jong's disclosure, saying, "She exposed it after taking everything."
Still, he emphasized, "There is no excuse for my violence. However, there was never a one-sided assault."
Earlier, on the 12th, Eun-jong revealed that she could not continue the marriage because of infidelity and violence and said she had won an alienation-of-affection lawsuit. In particular, she shocked people by releasing a video showing Yun Ddan Ddan using abusive language and committing assault. Eun-jong countered, "From the dating period I suffered eardrum damage and strangulation and was assaulted," and said, "I trusted my husband and did not pursue criminal charges, but the initial perpetrator of the verbal abuse and assault was Yun Ddan Ddan."
After disappearing following the controversy, Yun Ddan Ddan posted a cautious update on social media on the 5th, about six months later. He said, "It's already winter. I am getting by diligently. I'm doing cleaning part-time work and music lessons and getting through each day."
He continued, "More than resentment toward fans who have left, my remorse for causing shock and disappointment has grown larger," adding, "The past cannot be changed, and I, as I am now, am the one paying the price." He also said, "I read all the comments and criticisms. There was a time I blocked some malicious comments, but now I don't even have the heart to do that," and reflected, "It's all my responsibility for how I've lived."
Yun Ddan Ddan concluded, "I hope to be loved again. It may be shameless to say so, but if my future life aligns with my resolve, I hope there will someday be people who understand," and ended his post.
Meanwhile, the assault and infidelity dispute between Yun Ddan Ddan and Eun-jong remains tense as each side continues to present conflicting claims and explanations.<
