Comedian Park Narae has become embroiled in allegations of 'power harassment' exposed by former managers, and the flagship entertainment programs in which he appears are watching the situation closely amid tension.
On the 4th, MBC's I Live Alone told OSEN, "The production team is aware of the news related to the cast. However, no separate position has been decided yet," and "For now we are waiting for Park Narae's response," it said. On the same day, tvN's Amazing Saturday also said, "We have nothing official to say," holding back comments and showing a cautious stance.
On the day the controversy erupted, Park Narae appeared without editing on MBC's Save Me! Homes. As Park Narae's side said, "We are currently verifying the facts and discussing an official position with legal representatives," the production team appears to have chosen to monitor the situation without rushed edits or measures.
#. manager revelations… allegations of harassment·special injury·proxy prescriptions
Earlier, one outlet reported that former managers filed an application on the 3rd at the Seoul Western District Court for a provisional seizure of about 100 million won against real estate owned by Park Narae. The former managers said they would take legal action, alleging that Park Narae repeatedly engaged in workplace harassment, special injury, proxy prescription errands, and failure to pay progress fees.
They also appealed, saying, "We were asked to run errands for side dishes, clean up after parties, and handle family matters." They said they were verbally abused for not drinking alcohol, and included claims that they were injured by a glass thrown by Park Narae.
#. in addition, suspicion of an unregistered one-person agency
In particular, the fallout has grown as allegations emerged that Park Narae used the corporation Anpark, operated by his mother, effectively as a one-person agency while failing to register for public cultural and artistic planning business.
Park Narae's side has only said, "We are organizing our position. Verification of the facts is necessary."
Park Narae is currently active as a main-level cast member on numerous programs including MBC's I Live Alone, Save Me! Homes, tvN's Amazing Saturday, and the YouTube channel Naraesik. If the allegations are proven true, significant repercussions are expected for the production direction of several programs; the core regular programs I Live Alone, Save Me! Homes and Amazing Saturday are all expected to remain in a cautious waiting mode until Park Narae issues an official explanation.
With Homes airing first without edits and embracing Park Narae, attention is focused on what decisions NaHonSan and NolTo will make.
