(continuing from interview ①) Shim Eun-kyung expressed continued affection for the film Sunny team.
On the 5th at Megabox Art Nine in Dongjak-gu, Seoul, an interview was held with actress Shim Eun-kyung for the film Days of Travel (director Miyake Sho).
Days of Travel depicts the story that unfolds when 'Lee' (Shim Eun-kyung), a screenwriter whose scriptwriting is not going well, goes on a trip and stays at an inn in a rural mountain while a film made from a script written by the screenwriter "Lee" is shown. The original works are Beachcomber's Scene, released in 1967, and Bensan of Honyaradong, released in 1968, by Tsuge Yoshiharu, a writer hailed as a pioneer of Japanese auteur comics.
Recently Shim Eun-kyung appeared on MBC variety show I'm Sunny Thank You, where the main cast of Sunny — Kang So-ra, Park Jin-joo, Nam Bo-ra, Kim Bo-mi, Kim Min-young and others — gathered in one place for the first time in 14 years and showed unchanged friendship, drawing attention.
To this, Shim Eun-kyung said, "It was really the first time in a long time that I met the older sisters. Recently, sister Jin-joo got married too. I was so sorry that I couldn't go because of filming. So I kept apologizing to my sister. I was sad I couldn't go and made excuses. But my sister understood me so much. I want to take this opportunity to congratulate her on her marriage. I want to say thank you and I love you," drawing laughter.
We haven't really had time to meet the older sisters for a long time and have serious conversations. Each of our schedules is busy. This year has been busy too, so I haven't had time to meet them often. It's my fault. Now that the busy period is over, we'll meet in early next year and talk about various things. I would be happy if opportunities arise to exchange concerns about each other's activities going forward.
She continued, "We haven't really had time to meet the older sisters for a long time and have serious conversations. Each of our schedules is busy. This year has been busy too, so I haven't had time to meet them often. It's my fault. Now that the busy period is over, we'll meet in early next year and talk about various things. I would be happy if opportunities arise to exchange concerns about each other's activities going forward," expressing her hope.
In particular, many of Sunny's members, including Park Jin-joo, who recently married, Kang So-ra, Nam Bo-ra and Min Hyo-rin, are married. When asked how she felt watching that, Shim Eun-kyung said, "Now that I think about it, that's true," after pausing to consider, and added, "First of all, I'm glad the older sisters look so happy. That makes me happier than anything. What I still felt while filming variety shows is that nothing has changed," she said.
She added, "Although each has a family now, nothing has changed. They are the same as before. It's surprising that the images of the older sisters remain. I really thought that the film Sunny has truly become our life. That was a little amazing. From the perspective of someone who makes films, to feel that what you appear in seeps into people's lives and unfolds — I thought that was a great fortune," she said, creating a warm moment.
Meanwhile, Days of Travel will be released domestically on Dec. 10.
