'I'm SOLO' (I'm SOLO) season 29's romance was shaken by the first date selection.
On Wednesday the 3rd's broadcast of ENA and SBS Plus's real dating program 'I'm SOLO', the older women of season 29 unveiled themselves through 'self-introduction time.' Also, the solo women's first date selections and the dramatically changed love-line dynamics after 'self-introduction time' were revealed, drawing viewers in.
First to step up for 'self-introduction' Yeongsuk was born in 1988 and was a research professor at a university in Seoul. Yeongsuk, who is from Jeju Island and was a competitive swimmer through middle school, said, "I'm open to age and long-distance relationships" to emphasize her seriousness about marriage. Jeongsuk, also born in 1988, ran an English academy in Daegu. Jeongsuk, who said, "I'm looking for a man who communicates well," added, "It might be difficult to move the academy, but if I truly love someone I'd want to make a way."
Sunja said, "I'm an early 1990s-born (1990) and I commute between Seoul and my hometown Gwangju, where I work in the sales management team of my father's construction company." She added, "My dream is to become a bright and cheerful grandmother." Youngja, "born in 1988 and running a math academy in Daechi-dong," said, "I don't have much saved but I earn well," showcasing her 'capable woman' side.
Oksun, famous as a "Park Soo-jin lookalike," was born in 1989 and had worked as a nurse for 13 years at a hospital in Seoul. Oksun, who graduated top nationwide on the national nursing exam, named "a considerate and smart person" as her ideal type. Lastly, Hyunsuk, born in 1990, was a third-year pharmacist. Hyunsuk said, "I'm attracted to a man with a sturdy build who works hard," and laughed that "up to four years older or younger is fine."
After 'self-introduction time,' the 29 participants shared their candid thoughts while snacking in their rooms. Yeongcheol admitted interest in Yeongsuk and Hyunsuk, and Yeongsu said he wanted to talk more with Yeongsuk and Oksun instead of Jeongsuk because of 'long distance.' Gwangsu was also curious about Yeongsuk and Oksun, and Yeongho named Yeongsuk his 'first choice,' raising Yeongsuk from 'zero first-impression votes' to a 'popular woman.' Meanwhile, Sangcheol signaled he would completely rule out Youngja, who has a similar profession, and focus on Oksun. Around the same time, Oksun complained to the other solo women about feeling burdened by the large age gap with Sangcheol, and Yeongsuk showed interest in Yeongsu, saying she felt "substantive and full."
Soon after, the long-awaited 'first date selection' took place. The solo men shouted, "I'm lonely~," and the solo women chose the date partners they wanted. Yeongsu, as with the first-impression selection, was chosen by Jeongsuk and Sunja. Yeongho happily received the selections of the hoped-for Yeongsuk and Hyunsuk. In contrast, Yeongsik and Yeongcheol both endured the pain of 'zero votes' side by side, and Gwangsu grinned broadly when he received Oksun's much-desired choice. Sangcheol was flustered when he received Youngja's 'pick' despite having completely ruled her out because they both run academies.
After Jeongsuk and Sunja entered a '2:1 date' with Yeongsu, he mentioned his international school experience in the car on the way to the restaurant and talked about the 'visual' kiss on the cheek. Then Sunja joked, "Shall we try it too?" and Yeongsu teasingly asked, "With me?" adding, "I like kissing, take note." As the atmosphere heated up, when they arrived at the restaurant Yeongsu said, "In this global era it's good to meet a man who can speak three languages," and actively promoted himself as fluent in 'Korean-English-Chinese.' Later on a '1:1 date,' Yeongsu asked Jeongsuk about the 'long-distance' issue. He said, "As long as I'm at this company, it's hard to change my workplace," and Jeongsuk, with a wry smile, expressed liking, saying, "You introduced yourself clearly and concisely, and having overseas experience was good." Yeongsu concluded, "From what you say, it sounds like I've met my ideal type. The biggest obstacle in our relationship would be long distance." Next, on a '1:1 date' with Sunja, when Sunja asked him to say a line to her in Chinese, he broke into a nervous sweat, saying, "How absurd~." After the date, Sunja told producers in an interview, "I think Yeongsu is falling for me a lot," showing she felt he was advancing, while Yeongsu said, "I'm most curious about Oksun and Yeongsuk, and I have a bit more interest in Jeongsuk than in Sunja."
The nine-year age-gap pair Sangcheol and Youngja showed a well-matched back-and-forth on their first date. Sangcheol sweetly removed mackerel bones for her, and while Youngja briefly stepped away he pre-paid the bill. Amid the sweet mood, Youngja asked Sangcheol to sing Lee Seung-gi's "Because she's my woman," which he had sung during 'self-introduction time.' Sangcheol parodied it as, "Youngja, you're a woman to me~" and sang with all his heart. After the date he confessed, "My interest level shot up today. So this is (Youngja's) charm," and in an interview with producers he said, "If I talk a bit with Oksun, by tomorrow it'll be settled," indicating his intention to pursue Youngja. Youngja also sketched a 'big picture,' saying, "If I open a math academy near (Sangcheol's taekwondo) academy, it could be a win-win."
In the following preview, Yeongsuk, who went on a '2:1 date' with Yeongho, snapped, "It sounds like you're saying 'you're not Oksun,' and I don't like that," and Gwangsu appealed to Oksun, saying, "I'm Pyeongchang's Lim Young-woong!" A scene also showed Yeongsik suddenly bursting into tears while talking with Youngja, raising curiosity. Meanwhile, an additional hint about the 'season 29 wedding couple' was revealed: after seeing a 'wedding photo' with luxuriant long hair, Defconn guessed, "It looks like Sangcheol and Youngja."
