Amid broadcaster Park Narae's successive controversies, the variety shows he grants appearances on have also been affected.
On the 4th, Dispatch reported that Park Narae was served with a provisional seizure filing worth about 100 million won by a former manager.
According to the report, Park Narae's former managers filed a provisional seizure application against real estate owned by Park Narae at the Seoul Western District Court the previous day. They also announced they would file a damages lawsuit worth about 100 million won, claiming the harm they suffered during their employment.
The former managers claimed they suffered workplace harassment, special injury, proxy prescribing, unpaid hosting fees and other damages from Park Narae. They said they were made to be on call 24 hours for errands such as buying snacks, cleaning up after parties, and being forced to attend drinking gatherings, and that family matters were even entrusted to them, using them as domestic helpers.
One manager reportedly received verbal abuse for not drinking alcohol, and claimed to have been injured by a glass thrown by an angry Park Narae, which shocked people. In addition, hosting fees were not settled in a timely manner. The former managers are said to have submitted additional evidence to the court to prove these alleged misconducts by Park Narae.
The controversy did not end there. Not long after reports of power abuse were published, suspicions that a one-person agency was unregistered spread. According to reports, Park Narae was active for more than a year at Anpark Co., Ltd., which was established by his mother, but it is said that the company did not complete the registration procedure for popular culture and arts planning. Anpark Co., Ltd. was founded by Park Narae's mother in 2018 and was originally registered as a service and event agency, but after Park Narae's exclusive contract with former agency JDB Entertainment ended in September last year, it has effectively operated as a one-person agency.
However, the agency reportedly did not register as a popular culture and arts planning business. Registration for popular culture and arts planning is required under the Popular Culture and Arts Industry Development Act, and corporations or individual business operators with more than one person must complete the registration procedure to engage in popular culture and arts planning. Operating without completing the registration procedure can result in up to two years in prison or a fine of up to 20 million won.
When allegations of power abuse were followed by suspicions of an unregistered one-person agency, a representative of Park Narae's agency told OSEN, "We are currently organizing an official position with a law firm," and "We will distribute our position as soon as it is finalized, so please wait a little while," conveying a cautious stance.
In particular, Park Narae currently appears regularly on MBC's I Live Alone, Rescue! Homes, and tvN's Amazing Saturday and is active. Moreover, because Rescue! Homes and I Live Alone are scheduled to air today and tomorrow, respectively, they face a difficult situation. Broadcasters, caught off guard by the sudden developments, are awaiting Park Narae's official position and are on high alert. Representatives from MBC and tvN told OSEN, "Nothing has been decided yet, so there is nothing we can say."
