Broadcast entertainer Park Na-rae is being sued by former managers for alleged abuse of power, assault and proxy prescriptions, and attention is returning to past revelations about her "drunken behavior."
According to a Dispatch report on the 4th, Park Na-rae's former managers filed a provisional seizure application for real estate worth about 100 million won at the Seoul Western District Court the day before.
They have also announced plans to file a damages lawsuit, claiming harm suffered during their employment. They alleged workplace bullying, cleaning up after parties, forced errands, and in particular claimed they were verbally abused and assaulted for "not drinking." They also said there were errands for hospital appointments and proxy prescriptions, and issues with settling event expenses.
In response, Park Na-rae's agency told OSEN, "We are currently confirming the facts," and has begun to respond.
As the controversy spread online, cautious tones such as "first be neutral," "I want to believe Park Na-rae," "there are many alcohol-related allegations," and "we should hear both sides" were detected, and there were also many opinions that "it's dangerous to conclude based only on the managers' claims at this point."
Meanwhile, Park Na-rae's past "drinking habits" revealed on broadcasts have come back into focus.
On last year's YouTube content Naraesik, Lee Si-eon and others revealed Park Na-rae's drinking habits. Park Na-rae was said to fall asleep under the table or be carried away and then wake up "like a zombie." She was sometimes carried away while drunk, and mentioning a company dinner on I Live Alone, Park Na-rae said, "This oppa pushed me into the car with a side kick when I was drunk. Don't you remember the underground bar in Gangnam?"
Recalling the incident, Lee Si-eon said, "I carried you up and put you in the car and called the manager, and the manager was coming, but suddenly you got out of the car. You were definitely unconscious, but you came out alive like a zombie and asked, 'Where are you guys going?' then suddenly said, 'You're all screwed,' and lifted your shirt. Your belly stuck out this much, and I had a lot of thoughts at that time," he said, shocking viewers.
Moreover, Lee Hyori recalled a drinking occasion with Park Na-rae on Seoul Check-in and said, "I was drunk and she said she would do something for me, so I locked the door and slept at dawn," expressing surprise at Park Na-rae's drunken behavior.
The deepest concerns came from her family. On last September's appearance on Channel A's "Oh Eun-young's Golden Counseling Center," Park Na-rae's mother, Ko Myung-sook, worriedly said, "Her health is not good, but she gets drunk first and sleeps in her room. She drinks while swearing at her younger sibling, and if that spills onto others it would be a big problem. If you treat someone and hurt them, it's all pointless," adding, "Isn't this bad? She had her throat operated on three times. She needs care, but her health is not good."
At the time on the broadcast, Park Na-rae admitted with a laugh, "I'm a drinking zombie," but because today's abuse of power allegations are mainly tied to "forced drinking" and "verbal abuse and assault while drunk," acquaintances' past mentions of her drinking habits are being rediscovered.
Meanwhile, with Park Na-rae's side currently confirming the facts, attention is focused on what conclusions will be reached regarding the former managers' additional allegations and legal responses, and the connection to the "drinking controversy."
