'Hip-pop princess' is heating up the latter half with the new song mission.
Today (the 4th) at 9:50 p.m. KST, episode 8 of Mnet's Unpretty Rapstar: Hip-pop Princess (hereafter 'Hip-pop Princess') will air, and the fourth track competition, the 'special producer new song mission,' will begin its full-fledged performances. With only two gates left until the final aimed at creating a global hip-hop group, the competition is expected to be fiercer than ever.
This 'special producer new song mission,' which will decide the owners of tracks 8 and 9, proceeds with five contestants with different abilities forming teams and presenting self-created performance stages. In particular, legendary artist from the Japanese hip-hop scene VERBAL (m-flo) is participating as a special producer, raising expectations.
However, not all contestants can take the stage. Of the three teams per track, only two teams can perform. For the team from each track that does not get to perform—10 contestants in total—the unprecedented variable casts the possibility of elimination, and tension is expected to peak. Because the final ranking will actually result in 10 eliminations, intense interest is focused on what upsets may unfold.
The released pre-release clip for episode 8 captured a practice scene where anticipation and anxiety coexist about being able to take the stage. Because many are eliminated in this mission, some teams could be seen practicing with the determination to 'definitely take the stage,' showing fierce resolve. On the other hand, there were also many teams shaken by impatience. In particular, Kim Su-jin of track 9's Team 3 comforted teammates worried about elimination but ultimately broke down in tears, unable to steady her own mentality. Attention is focused on which teams will overcome the burden of elimination and get to perform.
Expectations for the stage rise amid increasingly intense track competition. A remake of 'the Love Bug,' which BoA featured on in 2004, in the 'Hip-pop Princess' version, and a new song VERBAL prepared specifically for this contest will be unveiled for the first time on the broadcast. In particular, special producer VERBAL heightened expectations with the assessment that it 'got 100 times better than the rehearsal.'
