Comedian Park Na-rae has been embroiled in controversy over allegations of verbal abuse and power harassment toward managers, and she has not yet given a statement, putting the broadcasting industry on high alert.
According to a Dispatch report on the 4th, Park Na-rae's former managers filed a petition for provisional seizure of real estate worth about 100 million won at the Seoul Western District Court the previous day. They claim to have suffered damage during their employment and have also warned of a lawsuit seeking damages, escalating the controversy.
The former managers claim they suffered workplace harassment, special injury, proxy prescription, unpaid program hosting fees and other mistreatment from Park Na-rae. They say they have also submitted additional evidence of Park Na-rae's misconduct to the court.
According to the managers' claims, Park Na-rae made the managers available 24 hours a day, ordering them to run errands for snacks, clean up after parties, and force them to drink, and even entrusted them with family matters, using them as domestic helpers.
In particular, one manager said he was verbally abused for not drinking alcohol, and claimed he was even injured by a glass thrown by Park Na-rae in anger. He said he was asked to run personal medical errands such as hospital appointments and proxy prescriptions, and that payments for program hosting were not always settled on time.
The broadcasting industry is also on edge over the shocking allegations. In this regard, Park Na-rae's side told OSEN in a brief statement that they are "organizing their position with a lawyer." Because Park Na-rae's response has not yet been released, the programs in which she appears have not been able to take any particular stance.
In particular, MBC's Save Me! Homes, which airs today (the 4th), and MBC's I Live Alone, which airs tomorrow (the 5th), face difficulties in immediate editing. In addition, no specific measures can be taken until Park Na-rae's position is announced.
Ultimately, the broadcasting industry's attention turned to Park Na-rae's response. It remains to be seen what position Park Na-rae will take regarding this lawsuit.
