'The Price of Confession' Kim Goeun said she came up with the idea to shave her head herself.
On the afternoon of the 3rd at CGV Yongsan I'Park Mall in Seoul, a press screening and press conference for the Netflix series "The Price of Confession" were held. Attending were lead actors Jeon Do-yeon, Kim Goeun, Park Hae-soo, and director Lee Jeong-hyo.
"The Price of Confession" is a mystery thriller that depicts events between Yoon-su (played by Jeon Do-yeon), who is accused of killing her husband, and Mo-eun (played by Kim Goeun), a mysterious figure called a witch, unfolding between two people with many secrets. It is the new work of director Lee Jeong-hyo, who showcased stylish direction across genres in the Netflix series "Iduna!", the drama "Crash Landing on You", and "The Good Wife", and draws attention as Jeon Do-yeon and Kim Goeun reunite for the first time in 10 years since the film "The Sword with No Name".
Jeon Do-yeon passionately played Ahn Yoon-su, who overnight becomes a suspect in her husband's murder and accepts a dangerous transaction to reclaim her daily life; Kim Goeun played Mo-eun, who is called an infamous witch and proposes a dangerous transaction to Yoon-su; and Park Hae-soo played prosecutor Baek Dong-hoon, who obsessively digs into the secrets entangling them. In the irony where truth becomes falsehood and falsehood becomes truth, the secretive transaction between the two women, trading confessions as the price, is a key point to watch.
For this role, Kim Goeun, who went through with shaving her head, said, "When I first received the script, the image of Mo-eun who appears now came to mind. Usually when such a role is evoked, the eyes within the hair come to mind, but for some reason I thought Mo-eun should not be hiding behind her hair," and added, "I wanted her to be a character who you can't tell what she's thinking even though everything is revealed and visible. At the same time, I wanted a sense of fragility. My character doesn't show a lot of facial expression, but I acted believing that there is expression even in a blank face."
Kim Goeun said she shaved her head for the character, "I found a short haircut photo and asked the director, 'How about hair this short?' He was embarrassed because he hadn't thought of it at all. (laughs) But when he saw the two of us standing together during the test shoot with Senior Do-yeon, he said, 'I think the choice to cut the hair was good,' which reassured me," she laughed.
Meanwhile, "The Price of Confession" will be released in about 190 countries on Netflix on the 5th.
