Singer HANRORO won "content of the year" at the 12th Kyobo Bookstore Publishing Awards.
The Kyobo Bookstore Publishing Awards is an event organized to discover and encourage established and new talents in various fields of the publishing industry, selecting and honoring creative content from diverse fields each year. HANRORO's first novel, "Grapefruit Apricot Club," was chosen as content of the year, adding significance.
HANRORO made her official debut as an author in July by publishing her first novel, "Grapefruit Apricot Club," which shares the same name as her third EP. The novel tells the story of growth, friendship and solidarity experienced by four middle school girls, each holding different secrets, who meet in a club called "Grapefruit Apricot Club." Having long delivered messages of solidarity and love to imperfect youth through her lyrics, HANRORO expanded her worldview literarily through "Grapefruit Apricot Club."
Known for her lyrical writing style and evocative worldview that left a deep impression on readers, HANRORO received high praise for her multifaceted appeal spanning music and literature. Reflecting this reception, HANRORO's first novel, "Grapefruit Apricot Club," was selected as the 12th Kyobo Bookstore Publishing Awards "content of the year" on Nov. 26 and received the honor at the awards ceremony held on Dec. 2.
At the awards ceremony, HANRORO said, "I am honored to receive the 'content of the year' award. 'Grapefruit Apricot Club' sincerely depicts the reality children face and the pure solidarity of holding on to each other to survive in that reality," and added, "I sincerely thank the readers who empathized with and pondered this issue with me. I will continue to deliver warm messages through books and music."
Attention is focused on HANRORO's future moves as she continues diverse creative activities that straddle music and literature.
