The Price of Confession Kim Goeun revealed her feelings about reuniting with Jeon Do-yeon after 10 years.
On the afternoon of the 3rd at CGV Yongsan I'Park Mall in Seoul, a press screening and press conference for the Netflix series The Price of Confession were held. Leading actors Jeon Do-yeon, Kim Goeun, Park Hae-soo and director Lee Jung-hyo attended the event.
The Price of Confession is a mystery thriller about Yoon-soo (played by Jeon Do-yeon), who is framed as a suspect in her husband's murder, and Moeun (played by Kim Goeun), a mysterious figure known as a witch, and the events that unfold between the two women who carry many secrets. It is the new work by director Lee Jung-hyo, who showcased stylish direction across genres in the Netflix series I Doona!, the drama Crash Landing on You, and The Good Wife, and it has drawn attention as Jeon Do-yeon and Kim Goeun reunite for the first time in 10 years since the film The Sword with No Name.
Jeon Do-yeon passionately played Ahn Yoon-soo, who suddenly becomes a suspect in her husband's murder and accepts a dangerous transaction to regain her daily life; Kim Goeun played Moeun, who is called an unprecedented witch and proposes a dangerous transaction to Yoon-soo; and Park Hae-soo played prosecutor Baek Dong-hoon, who obsessively digs into the secrets entangling them. In an irony where truth becomes falsehood and falsehood becomes truth, the secret transactions between the two women, exchanged as the price of confession, are the viewing points.
Kim Goeun said that although she had not met senior Jeon Do-yeon in works, she had often seen her socially and felt, 'Rather than "Wow~ we met after 10 years," it was more like "I am glad and happy to meet after 10 years."' She added, 'During The Sword with No Name I was overwhelmed trying to carry my part and completely frantic. So I would suddenly call my senior at night. (Laughs) When I was alone in the lodging, I worried and couldn't sleep, so I randomly called, and Jeon Do-yeon answered, surprised. She asked, "Is something wrong?"' she revealed.
She continued, 'I heard later that my senior called the director and said, "Please tell how important this role is to Goeun and make sure it's not too hard on her physically and mentally." I received a lot of help. Even when filming emotional scenes where I couldn't cry no matter what, my senior stood opposite me in that scene and offered reassurance with her eyes, as if to say "it's okay," and I received a lot of one-sided help,' she said.
Kim Goeun also said, 'By doing "confession," I had relatively more screen time than my senior, and my senior went through a lot. I felt I could take care of her more than before and hoped she would feel reassured by me. I approached it with that mindset. If she was just standing there during setup, I'd say, "You should sit; you might have to wait a bit." I would say things like that,' she laughed.
When asked, "Did you feel reassured by Kim Goeun?" Jeon Do-yeon added, "She was very reassuring. I wondered if my growth had stopped because Goeun kept growing and I received a lot of care."
Meanwhile, The Price of Confession will be released to about 190 countries on Netflix on the 5th.
