The late Taiwanese actress S-Shi Yuan, the wife of singer Koo Jun-yeob, has drawn attention as stories of her good deeds have surfaced belatedly.
A recent Singaporean outlet reported that S-Shi Yuan quietly supported single mothers while alive. According to the report, S-Shi Yuan provided financial help without compensation to single mothers who were struggling to pay for their children's treatment.
A single mother in Singapore said she was solely responsible for supporting her household and, desperate to pay for her son's treatment, sent messages requesting help from several celebrities. She said the child needed treatment that cost 2,000 yuan a month (about 390,000 won), and at the time she could not hold on any longer. She sent messages to several celebrities asking for help, and the only person who replied was S-Shi Yuan.
Another single mother claimed she received help from S-Shi Yuan while struggling to pay for her daughter's leukemia treatment. She said S-Shi Yuan heard about the situation and quietly transferred 300,000 yuan (about 57 million won) and also said, "Tell me again if it's not enough." Thanks to that, our child was given a second chance at life, and it was unbelievable that such a celebrity existed.
S-Shi Yuan was a well-known Taiwanese actress in her lifetime and drew major attention domestically as the wife of Koo Jun-yeob, formerly of the group Clon. The two reunited and became a couple in March 2022 after rekindling a past first love more than 20 years later, and their story was loved like something out of a movie. However, S-Shi Yuan traveled to Japan with her family on Feb. 2 and died at age 48 from acute pneumonia. Koo Jun-yeob is reportedly visiting his wife's grave daily, a fact that has evoked sorrow.
