Broadcast personality and attorney Seo Dong-ju directly addressed allegations that she had stopped practicing law in the United States.
On the 2nd, a video titled "the reason I don't get off work even after leaving work" was posted on the YouTube channel "Seo Dong-ju's Tto.Do.Dong."
In the video, after returning home late in the evening and removing her makeup, Seo said, "The shoot is over, but I still have lawyer work left. I'm doing broadcasts, but I continue to do lawyer work."
She continued, "In Korea I do broadcasting, writing, and work as an artist who paints, and I also run a beauty business. So many people ask whether I quit being a lawyer," mentioning suspicions about her occupation.
Seo emphasized that she is a lawyer licensed in the state of California. She said, "I am someone who took the California exam. Laws and exams differ by state in the United States," and explained, "Many people ask about divorce counseling, but I have worked on trademark matters within intellectual property."
She also candidly described how work was handled at the U.S. law firm. She said, "At a large law firm the workload was heavy and there were many global clients, so I worked around the clock. In return, I made a lot of money."
She said she is currently working as the chief legal officer (CLO) of a company headquartered in Busan. She said, "The CEO gave me the director title, but it sounds grand, so I introduce myself externally as legal counsel · in-house counsel," and added, "I am also carrying out a UN-related project."
In the latter part of the video, Seo authenticated her legal practice by showing actual documents to the camera. She also revealed her MIT diploma and Wharton School of Business degree in person, saying, "This is the first time I'm showing these documents. So maybe some people didn't believe I was a lawyer," drawing attention.
Meanwhile, Seo Dong-ju is the daughter of the late Seo Se-won and Seo Jeong-hee, and after working as a lawyer in the United States she has combined that with broadcasting activities. In June she remarried someone who works in the entertainment industry.<
