PROBONO Lee Yoo-young spoke about changes that came from deeply immersing herself in the character.
On the afternoon of the 2nd, tvN's new Saturday-Sunday drama PROBONO held an online production press conference that was livestreamed. Director Kim Seong-yoon; actors Jung Kyung-ho, So Ju-yeon, Lee Yoo-young, Yoon Na-moo, Seo Hye-won, and Kang Hyung-seok attended the production press conference and talked.
PROBONO is a human courtroom drama about a careerist, materialistic judge who, against his will, becomes a public interest lawyer and gets trapped in the corner office of a giant law firm and a public interest team with zero revenue, leading to chaotic incidents.
In the drama, Lee Yoo-young plays Oh Jeong-in, the chief lawyer of the top law firm O&Partners. When asked what changed while playing Oh Jeong-in, Lee Yoo-young confessed, "My original personality is far from Oh Jeong-in's. Oh Jeong-in is rigid and strong, so at first when I went to the set as myself, I had a period where I couldn't immediately immerse myself in the Oh Jeong-in character or get a feel for it."
She said, "One day I decided I had to go with the mindset of Oh Jeong-in and be decisive and do it well. From then on I spoke less and had no expression. I couldn't mingle brightly and comfortably with the staff while filming; I was present as the character. So it was a bit regrettable, but I think I immersed myself in the role that much more," expressing regret.
She went on to candidly say about the PROBONO team excluding herself, "They're so cute and fun. They're so natural. I want to be part of them," and added, "I think I mostly filmed alone and lonely," which drew laughter.
Meanwhile, PROBONO will premiere on the 6th at 9:10 p.m.
