(continuing from interview ①) Ha Jung-woo of 'The Upstairs Neighbors' mentioned Lee Ha-nee, who gave a 'fighting through second pregnancy' performance.
On the 2nd at a café in Samcheong-dong, Seoul, an interview was held with Ha Jung-woo, the lead actor and director of the film 'The Upstairs Neighbors' (director Ha Jung-woo, provided/distributed by By4M Studio, produced by Cyidus·Walkhouse Company).
The film 'The Upstairs Neighbors' is a work that depicts the unpredictable conversations that occur when two couples, entangled by nightly 'sex-different' floor noise, share a meal for one night, and it is especially drawing attention as the fourth directorial work presented by Ha Jung-woo following 'Rollercoaster', 'Huh Sam-gwan' and 'Lobby'.
Ha Jung-woo played the suspicious upstairs man 'Mr. Kim' in the film, showing stepfamily chemistry with Lee Ha-nee (playing Su-gyeong).
That day Ha Jung-woo talked about the casting backstory for Lee Ha-nee, saying, "In her interview Ha-nee said I criticized her within two weeks. At first I spoke vaguely," expressing his grievance and drawing laughter.
He continued, "Because there was a fire on the instep. At that time. I agonized over many actors and cards. Fortunately I was contacted in two weeks. But in the meantime Hyo-jin did the intermediate role so well. In my mind Ha-nee was number one. Hyo-jin kept checking her condition. 'It seems Ha-nee is interested. Can't we wait?' so in the end it became the golden ratio," he said.
Lee Ha-nee, who joined the project that way, later had the joyful news of a second pregnancy during filming. Regarding this, Ha Jung-woo confessed, "I was surprised. I realized people can be pushed to the end like this. The situation."
Ha Jung-woo recalled, "Because don't you have to protect her? Smoking is now banned on sets. I told the staff not to smoke nearby either. We kept ventilating for 10 minutes every hour. I feared it might cause harm. Should we worry about Ha-nee too? This project was really challenging."
He added, "Even so, she bravely handled everything perfectly, and I can only be grateful," and joked, "When I later heard about the smooth delivery, I felt it was a great relief. But after our film she filmed a drama with a heavy body. It really seemed extraordinary."
