Jang Ki-yong is suffering from the fever of love.
SBS's Wednesday-Thursday drama Dynamite Kiss (written by Ha Yoon-a and Tae Kyung-min/directors Kim Jae-hyun and Kim Hyun-woo/produced by Studio S, Samhwa Networks) presents an electrifying four-way romance that is drawing explosive reactions both domestically and overseas. It is undeniably thrilling and comic, and the protagonists' hearts race while feeling poignant, which deepens viewer immersion. At the center is Gong Ji-hyeok (played by Jang Ki-yong), who is showing the perfected form of a rom-com male lead.
Gong Ji-hyeok fell in love with Go Da-rim (played by Ahn Eun-jin) after a "catastrophe-level" kiss. But Go Da-rim, who had disappeared without a trace, reappeared as a mother and a member of his team. In fact, Go Da-rim is a single woman who has never been married or given birth, but she took a fake job to make ends meet. Unaware of this, Gong Ji-hyeok feels an irresistible attraction to the Go Da-rim he meets again, yet he forcibly suppresses his feelings.
Meanwhile, Gong Ji-hyeok witnessed the kiss between Kim Seon-woo (played by Kim Mu-jun) and Yoo Ha-young (played by Woo Da-bi). From Gong Ji-hyeok's perspective, believing Kim Seon-woo to be Go Da-rim's husband, the situation raises suspicions of an affair between the two. Then Go Da-rim collapsed in front of Gong Ji-hyeok. Carrying her to the emergency room, Gong Ji-hyeok thought he wanted to protect her alone. The episode six ending, in which Gong Ji-hyeok realizes his feelings for Go Da-rim, reportedly made viewers' dopamine and screams erupt.
Meanwhile, on Dec. 2, the Dynamite Kiss production team hinted, "In episodes 7 and 8 airing this week, Gong Ji-hyeok will suffer from a fever because of his uncontrollable love for Go Da-rim," piquing avid viewers' interest.
In the released photos, Gong Ji-hyeok is shown visiting the "grandfather tree" of memories that Go Da-rim had mentioned late at night. Staring blankly at the tree, Gong Ji-hyeok, as if he noticed something, is startled and hides behind the tree. Although Gong Ji-hyeok normally tolerates no sloppiness, in the photos he is somehow shown with his tie slightly loosened. The complex emotions—tenderness, sorrow—that ripple through Gong Ji-hyeok's eyes make viewers' hearts tremble.
Regarding this, the Dynamite Kiss production team said, "After realizing his love for Go Da-rim, Gong Ji-hyeok experiences an enormous emotional whirlpool. Actor Jang Ki-yong vividly portrayed Gong Ji-hyeok's emotions with powerful acting. In the fever of love so intense it seems to burn both head and heart, what choice Gong Ji-hyeok will make and how that choice will affect his secret-aching romance toward Go Da-rim afterward—please show a lot of interest and expectation," they said.
Jang Ki-yong's tender fever of love, which will once again stir women's hearts, can be seen in episode 7 of SBS's Wednesday-Thursday drama Dynamite Kiss, which airs at 9 p.m. on Wednesday the 3rd.
