Actor Jung Man of the film "Concrete Market" took pride in his transformation into a familiar devil.
On the afternoon of the 1st, at Lotte Cinema World Tower in Jamsil, Songpa-gu, Seoul, a press screening and press conference for the film "Concrete Market" (director Hong Gi-won) were held. After the screening, the panel included director Hong Gi-won and the film's lead actors Jung Man-sik, Lee Jae-in, Hong Kyung, Yoo Su-bin, among others, who spoke with domestic reporters about the film.
"Concrete Market" is a film that tells the story of the Hwanggung Market, which sells and buys goods in the only apartment complex left after a major earthquake, and the events that unfold as people begin trading in their own ways to survive.
Jung Man-sik, who played the role of Park Sang-young and again attempted a villain role after his previous work, said, "In the previous work I was a gangster. I wore a suit. This time, when meeting people who survived in a collapsed world, personally I thought it would be nice if they held hands and lived together, but surprisingly, whether the world has collapsed or not, there are always people who think 'one more, a little more, I more.' I wanted to portray those people, and although the film shows it, there are omitted parts in the process of how an ordinary salesman used what he had to survive and came to occupy a large position in the 'Hwanggung Market.' Fundamentally I thought about a person who tried to live, who tried to take, who tried to go all the way," he said.
He continued, "They are people surviving together, but to persuade others that what I have can help you, I thought a salesman needs the so-called 'teeth,' so I considered evasive speech, and seductive, alluring approaches like con artists who comfortably circumvent and approach. So I tried to make him come across more comfortably and familiarly, more precisely to make viewers feel like they're seeing someone they've seen before. I wanted to capture the feeling of a person you might have seen from afar, in tone and the way he looks at people, and even in doing things that might seem appealing like cooking. I wanted to portray a familiar devil. I challenged myself that way, but I don't know how the audience will perceive it," he said.
"Concrete Market" opens on the 3rd. <
