The group Stray Kids received the honor of winning the grand prize at the 2025 MAMA AWARDS.
Stray Kids was named the winner of one of the four grand prizes, album of the year (ALBUM OF THE YEAR), at the 2025 MAMA AWARDS held at Hong Kong's Kai Tak Stadium on the 29th. They also lifted trophies in two categories, including Fans' Choice Male Top 10 (FANS' CHOICE MALE TOP 10), which is decided by fan votes.
First, Stray Kids expressed sincere condolences, saying, "A truly heartbreaking incident happened here in Hong Kong a few days ago. We extend our deepest condolences to the victims and those affected. We hope for a swift recovery and return, and we wish that our music and activities can provide you with some strength and comfort."
They continued, "I still can't believe we received such a major award at the MAMA Awards. We are so happy to be able to share the music and performances we love with many people around the world and to share joy and strength. Receiving this award makes us determined to work even harder in the future. To our driving force, our STAY (fanclub name: STAY), we want to give this award to you. Thank you sincerely for your love," they said tearfully.
That day Stray Kids showcased the dignity befitting a grand prize winner through their performance. They opened with the intense track "CREED" from their fourth full-length album KARMA, which earned them the grand prize, and after "Chk Chk Boom," the title track of the mini album ATE released in July 2024, they created an EDM concert atmosphere with the KARMA album title track "CEREMONY."
In particular, they premiered the stage for "Sinsennoreum," one of the double title tracks from the new release SKZ IT TAPE (Skz It Tape) "DO IT," released on the 21st. Following Hyunjin's solo dance break, the eight members appeared dressed in outfits that reinterpreted taekwondo doboks and, together with a dancer crew, put on a stage of overwhelming scale that properly showcased the beauty and elegance of Korean tradition.
Stray Kids rose as a K-pop champion this year with unparalleled global achievements. They completed their largest-ever world tour, Stray Kids World Tour < dominATE > (< Dominate >), shining with 56 shows across 35 regions worldwide, and held an encore concert that closed the tour at Incheon Asiad Main Stadium, marking their first solo entry into a domestic stadium venue seven years after debut.
With 2025's first comeback album KARMA, they surpassed first-week sales of 3 million copies, ranking first in K-pop album first-week sales this year, and reached No. 1 on the Billboard 200 for the seventh time overall, setting a first in the chart's 70-year history. Recognized for these achievements, Stray Kids, who have been named grand prize winners at various music award shows, are having their best year and continue their unstoppable momentum into the year-end.
