Lee Jae-wook and Choi Sung-eun set off on a heartrending winter mountain hike.
Tonight (30th) at 9:20 p.m., KBS 2TV weekend miniseries Last Summer (directed by Min Yeon-hong / written by Jeon Yu-ri / produced by Monster Union, Slingshot Studio) episode 10 will have Baek Do-ha (played by Lee Jae-wook) and Song Ha-kyung (played by Choi Sung-eun) confront matters related to Baek Do-young (played by Lee Jae-wook) head-on,
Earlier, Do-ha and Ha-kyung confirmed each other's feelings after 17 years of going back and forth and finally began dating. Their sweetness was brief: Do-ha left for the U.S. after hearing news of Do-young. Ha-kyung also booked a flight to the U.S. to go to Do-ha and arrived at the airport. At that moment Do-ha appeared and the ending in which he says "I brought him, Baek Do-young" exploded viewers' curiosity.
The released stills show Do-ha and Ha-kyung facing each other against a snowy mountain backdrop with a biting winter wind. Wearing thick winter jumpers, the two lean on each other's warmth in a sparsely populated mountain and share an intense gaze.
Especially in Ha-kyung's eyes as she looks at Do-ha, there is not only tenderness but also deep trust toward him, which touches viewers' hearts. Do-ha likewise does not avoid Ha-kyung's gaze and looks at her solemnly, foreshadowing heavy emotional beats.
This winter climb promises to mean more than a simple date for the two, raising expectations. It is because the journey is to resolve the final task related to Do-young, a person who remains a painful reminder and a debt of the heart for both Do-ha and Ha-kyung.
Until now, trapped in their respective guilt and grief over Do-young's death, Do-ha and Ha-kyung will finally confront the past through this hike. The process of facing Do-young without avoidance and comforting each other's wounds is expected to offer deep healing and a poignant emotional impact to home viewers.
Above all, Lee Jae-wook, who plays two roles and displays delicate inner acting, and Choi Sung-eun, who completes the narrative with her eyes alone, are expected to reach an emotional peak in this episode through their synergistic performances.
The Last Summer production team said, "The winter mountain that Do-ha and Ha-kyung climbed hand in hand is both the mountain of the past they must overcome and a space for healing to move forward," and added, "Please be sure to check through tonight's broadcast what kind of farewell the two people who have come full circle will offer Do-young and the two's special journey."
