Comedian Yoon Jung-soo tied the knot with broadcaster and former reporter Won Ja-hyun (now Won Jin-seo), and the extraordinary loyalty of Kim Sook, who once paired with him as a "virtual couple," is drawing attention.
Earlier on TV CHOSUN's "Joseon's lover," Yoon Jung-soo, who was about to marry, met close friends Bae Ki-sung·Im Hyeong-jun to share the wedding news. Yoon Jung-soo surprised everyone by announcing, "We haven't dated long, but we've set a wedding date," revealing the wedding date as Nov. 30, and the two were unable to hide their surprise, saying, "We thought the virtual marriage was a joke."
At that moment, a perfectly timed call from Kim Sook caused uproarious laughter. Kim Sook expressed hurt, saying, "Oppa's phone number changed. You said we'd eat together but then went silent," and Im Hyeong-jun lightened the mood with a joke, asking, "Are you cutting off relationships?" Kim Sook showcased her trademark sharp humor, saying, "Yoon Jung-soo is getting married but he won't show the bride-to-be. I thought he was marrying an AI."
Yoon Jung-soo said, "Still, I contacted Sook first," and added, "When I was with the bride-to-be, Sook called so I got permission then I accepted. She said, 'Who did you find to get married to?' and 'Keep milking it for five more years,'" sharing behind-the-scenes laughs about being a "business couple."
But Kim Sook showed disappointment, saying, "I didn't receive an invitation," and Yoon Jung-soo explained, "They haven't come out yet." Kim Sook admitted, "You don't have to give me one. Wouldn't it be strange if I went to the wedding? Honestly, I think I'd cry if I went," and Yoon Jung-soo also replied, "You have to come. If Sook cries, I think I will too," revealing their deep friendship.
Yoon Jung-soo also mentioned a comedy-of-errors brought on by the show, saying, "The elders still think we are a married couple."
Meanwhile, on the wedding day, the 30th, Yoon Jung-soo and Won Ja-hyun held a private wedding at a hotel in Gangnam with family and acquaintances. The two had already registered their marriage, making them legally married.
The wedding emcees were Nam Chang-hee and, ultimately, Kim Sook. Kim Sook had earlier declared, "I'll find a way to attend the wedding," and by actually serving as emcee she proved her friendship beyond a virtual couple to real-life loyalty.
