Actress Kim Yong-rim revealed the story of how she emptied all her assets to buy a house in order to marry her husband Nam Il-woo, and disclosed that she endured living with her in-laws in that house for 18 years.
On the 29th, the MBN episode of
On that day Kim Yong-rim confessed, "I gave all my assets to marry Nam Il-woo," and "I was the youngest daughter of a well-off family, and Nam Il-woo's family was poor. My family opposed the marriage, so I gave my money to Nam Il-woo and together we used it to buy a house, then presented it as 'the house Nam Il-woo prepared' to get their permission."
In the house prepared that way, Kim Yong-rim naturally ended up caring for her parents-in-law because her husband was an only son.
Kim Yong-rim confessed that she endured 18 years of living with her in-laws while caring for them. She recalled, "My mother-in-law was no ordinary person. The reason I perform a cold mother-in-law so well is because my mother-in-law was the model," and "When I left for the broadcasting station in the morning and opened the shoe cabinet and asked, 'What should I wear?' she would say, 'With so many shoes?,'" remembering the time.
When Kim Hyun-sook asked, "Did your mother-in-law know that a teacher helped with money for the house?" Kim Yong-rim answered firmly, "She did not know."
She added, "I had a bad relationship with my mother-in-law. Even while thinking 'I must live by loyalty,' there were times I couldn't bear it. After having one child I even told my husband, 'I think we should separate,'" expressing her hardship.
However, Kim Yong-rim said she was able to preserve the relationship thanks to the role her husband Nam Il-woo played.
"Nam Il-woo was very fair. He would tell my mother-in-law, 'You were wrong about this,' and tell me, 'You were wrong about this too,' balancing both sides. Thanks to that, we have lived this long."
After the broadcast was released, internet users responded, "It's really amazing that she endured 18 years of living with her in-laws. I would have left already," and "People of the old days really lived by loyalty… something the current generation can't imagine," among other reactions.
Born in 1940 and 85 years old this year, Kim Yong-rim recently revealed on 'Sokpuli Show Dongchimi' that she was so distressed after the death of her husband, the late Nam Il-woo, that she experienced auditory hallucinations, drawing viewers' sympathy.<
