'Sadang-gui' featured former baseball player Yang Jun-hyuk revealing a yellowtail farming business site that recorded annual sales of 3 billion won.
On the evening of the 30th, KBS 2TV entertainment program 'Blind to one side, donkey ears on the other (abbreviated Sadang-gui)' aired, introducing Yang Jun-hyuk as the new boss.
Transformed from 'Yangshin' to 'Bangshin,' Yang Jun-hyuk spoke proudly of the aquaculture business he pushed to the end, saying, "I am the director of the Daebang Yellowtail in Guryongpo. I raise 12,000 fish in a farm the size of a baseball stadium. At the Noryangjin fish market auction, we set a record high of 38,000 won per kilogram. I have a tight grip on yellowtail."
Former Hyunmoo, who was a peer with Yang Jun-hyuk on the past KBS 2TV program 'Qualification of Men,' said, "He was doing it back then too," drawing surprise. Proclaiming himself the father of the Daebang yellowtail and calling himself 'Bangshin,' Yang Jun-hyuk was in fact writing a legend, recording annual sales of 3 billion won at a farm roughly the size of a 3,000-pyeong baseball stadium. He said he operates four establishments: a café, a sashimi restaurant, a fishing spot and a fish farm.
Having played baseball for 18 years and run a yellowtail farm for 20 years, he said, "When it comes to yellowtail, this is it in Korea," giving a thumbs-up and drawing surprise. Working there was Yang Jun-hyuk's wife, who is 19 years younger than him, Park Hyun-sun. The wife was born in 1988 and the husband enrolled in university in the class of 1988.
About his business success, Yang Jun-hyuk said, "I tried threadfin bream, flatfish, rockfish, abalone and more and nearly went bankrupt, but meeting yellowtail brought my heyday," and added with a laugh, "I also want to be a baseball manager. Someone has to call me. So I'm going my own way."
Yang Jun-hyuk's secret to business success was diligence. He goes to bed at midnight and wakes at 2 a.m., then begins a hectic day buying farmed yellowtail and feed fish at Ganggu Port in Yeongdeok, an hour and a half from Pohang, and bringing them to the auction. Yang Jun-hyuk added, "I have lived like this every day for the past six months," further surprising viewers.
