Singer G-Dragon expressed disappointment over live performance controversy surrounding him.
Earlier on the 29th, at Hong Kong Kai Tak Stadium, Mnet's 2025 MAMA AWARDS took place, where he performed a solo stage and simultaneously won artist of the year.
G-Dragon performed his solo album 1 title track "Heart Break" as well as hits like "Untitled," but aside from the prerecorded AR (recorded accompaniment and vocals) that played beneath, he was unable to carry much of the performance. His pitch and stage presence appeared unstable throughout, prompting some viewers to express disappointment. However, because of multiple recent live-performance controversies, this 2025 MAMA AWARDS live also drew criticism for a low-quality stage.
Immediately after the awards ceremony, Mnet "MAMA" official account uploaded a reels video of G-Dragon's stage, and upon seeing the video the artist himself left a "boom down" "boomdda" emoticon and ellipsis (...), indicating he too seemed regretful.
Some fans responded with support, saying "he finished the live stage despite poor condition," while others posted varied reactions such as "a professional failed at self-management."
Meanwhile, G-Dragon decided to donate 1 million Hong Kong dollars (about 188.74 million won) to the Support Fund for Wang Fuk Court in Tai Po to help restore the Hong Kong apartment fire site and support the psychological healing of Hong Kong residents affected by the damage.
