Singer Lee Seung-gi mentioned his wife, actress Lee Da-in, and their 21-month-old daughter. It was an especially unusual remark because, while enjoying a happy married life, he rarely speaks directly about his family.
Lee Seung-gi appeared on the general programming channel MBN's Kim Ju-ha's Day and Night, which aired on the afternoon of the 29th, to talk about his new song. In the midst of that, he first brought up his daughter, and a photo was released that drew attention.
Kim Ju-ha opened by saying, "Living buried in the news, I don't know much about the world, so I might ask an inappropriate question," and asked, "The most famous song I know by Lee Seung-gi is 'You're my woman.' Can this new song surpass that?"
Lee Seung-gi promoted the new song, saying, "The title is 'By your side, me.' From the title it sounds like a ballad, but it has a band sound closer to rock. Two songs came out this time, and I wrote almost the entire melody."
He said, "One thing that makes me happy inside is that our daughter is 21 months old, and when I record and monitor vocals at home she really gets into the rhythm. She shakes her hips," and added, "I was like, 'Why is she getting into the rhythm?' When the song ended she would say, 'Daddy, daddy,' and want it played again. She listens to it 10 times." Lee Seung-gi smiled happily imagining his 21-month-old daughter excitedly moving to her singer father's music.
He added with a laugh, "So I wondered, 'Does this appeal to infants and toddlers now?' If we build from now, in 10 years... I've never had elementary school students follow along. So I thought, 'Isn't this subtly for a younger sensibility?'"
Lee Seung-gi also revealed his wife Lee Da-in's reaction. He candidly said, "This time it's a style she really likes. She listened next to me from when I was composing. She's quite cold-headed when monitoring, but she said, 'This song seems really good.'"
Lee Seung-gi married Lee Da-in in 2023 and welcomed their first daughter in February last year. Recently, through a variety show, he revealed his current life, saying, "I take my wife and (my daughter) to and from school and it's so happy," attracting attention.
Earlier in April, after his father-in-law and Lee Da-in's stepfather, a person surnamed Lee, was detained on fraud charges, Lee Seung-gi, seemingly aware of the continuing controversy, said, "Trust among family members was damaged to a level that is difficult to restore, and after long consideration I intend to sever relations with my in-laws."
