Singer-songwriter Park Sun-joo revealed that she has been living separately from her husband, chef Kang Leo, for seven years.
On the 29th, on the MBN variety show 'Sokpulishow Dongchimi', Park Sun-joo and actress Kim Yong-rim appeared and had honest conversations on the theme 'Love is loyalty'.
That day Park Sun-joo said she and her husband Kang Leo have already been living in separate houses for seven years, and that acquaintances often ask, "When will you get divorced?" expressing her frustration. She added, "Kwon Sang Woo says when the two live separately it's like a migrating father, so why is ours called living apart? No matter how tough my image is, this is too much."
Park Sun-joo explained that she began living separately from about the third or fourth year after marriage. After her husband said, "I want to stop cooking and do farming," he stayed in the provinces and gradually came home less often. She said, "He used to come two or three times a week, then it became about once every two weeks. I understood it all, but I was sad because my husband wasn't around."
She also added, "It was a time when the child needed a lot of care. Instead of calling 'mom' once, the child called repeatedly, which was exhausting." When cast members asked, "Don't you call your husband and ask him to come up?" Park Sun-joo said, "He works there, and I couldn't call because I thought it might make him uncomfortable. We only do video calls with the child and not with me. In the end I gave up the husband role, and I plan meals and trips in advance."
When Kim Tae-hoon said, "If you look at it another way, this is similar to a migrating father. The wife is separated to take care of the child and the husband sends living expenses," Park Sun-joo revealed with a laugh, "Usually a migrating father sends money, but in our house I send the money."
Hearing this, Kim Yong-rim praised Park Sun-joo, saying, "This kind of person is truly the best. Love is duty and sacrifice, and you can receive as much as you give. Both must fulfill their duties. Love is not one-way." On the other hand, No Sa-yeon pointed out, "It seems the balance is off. From what I've heard so far, only Park Sun-joo endures while the husband lives as he pleases, doesn't he?"
