Hong Kong actor Chow Yun-fat appeared as a presenter and presented the artist of the year award to G-Dragon.
On the 29th at Hong Kong's Kai Tak Stadium, the 2025 MAMA AWARDS were held, and Chow Yun-fat presented the grand prize.
As the presenter of the VISA artist of the year award, Chow Yun-fat and the audience observed a moment of silence for the victims of the Hong Kong fire disaster before the award presentation.
Chow Yun-fat said, "Before the presentation, I would like to ask a small favor of you. Please all rise to express our sincere support for the residents of Wang Fuk Court in the Tai Po area of Hong Kong," and added, "We will take a moment of silence to console those who lost their lives in the fire."
The stage lights were turned off and Chow Yun-fat and the audience held a moment of silence to mourn the victims. Chow Yun-fat said, "I want to offer my sincere condolences to those who lost beloved family members and those who lost friends," and added, "I am grateful to MAMA for offering comfort and help like this."
The artist of the year award was then awarded to G-Dragon. G-Dragon said, "I made my comeback through MAMA last year, but this year's activities feel different from usual. It's a very happy day but also a sad day, and many emotions cross, and on MAMA's 30th anniversary it is an honor to receive this from my cool, eternal idol, brother Chow Yun-fat."
He continued, "Thank you to the VIP fan club members. Just thank you. Next year our group will turn 20, and next year I want to come party with friends so it's not lonely. See you next year," promising a next time.
Meanwhile, on the 26th (local time) a large fire broke out at the high-rise apartment complex Wang Fuk Court in the Tai Po area in northern Hong Kong. The holding of the 2025 MAMA in Hong Kong became uncertain, but organizer CJ ENM said the awards ceremony would proceed as scheduled. The red carpet event was canceled, but the main awards ceremony was broadcast live as planned.
