Gong Hyo-jin recalled her husband Kevin Oh's military service.
On the 28th episode of KBS1's Morning Yard corner "Happy Friday Ssangssang Party," the main cast of the film The Upstairs Neighbors — Ha Jung-woo, Gong Hyo-jin, Kim Dong-wook, Lee Ha-nui — and comedians Eom Ji-yoon and Gwak Beom grants.
That day, when selecting her own "best scene," Gong Hyo-jin said, "I'll talk about my husband's enlistment. As soon as we got married my husband enlisted. It was December. That winter," she said.
She recalled, "Of course I also sent my younger brother off to enlist, but a husband's enlistment was different," and said, "When my brother enlisted it was like going to camp and I said, 'Make lots of friends and come back!' But for my husband they told him to go when it was his turn in line. They said don't watch all the events, just go. It was cold so he just turned around and left."
Gong Hyo-jin also said, "My husband's discharge day was a best scene too. He opened the door and walked in. Seeing him return wearing his uniform as a sergeant—it was a moment when I couldn't believe whether it was real."
She added, "I also sent a lot of handwritten letters during his service. Many still remain. I said let's keep them as memories and wrote a lot, but later I ran out of things to write," she joked, drawing laughter.
Meanwhile, Gong Hyo-jin married singer Kevin Oh in 2022.
