A physical album of Reborn Hearts, the first EP by harpist-turned singer-songwriter Shim So-jung that contains her emotional narrative, was officially released on the 26th. This work arranges the emotional undulations — the repetition of love, the collapse of the inner self, wounds and recovery — like a single narrative, presenting a distinctive sensibility that blends harp sounds and emotive vocals.
The title track "Round N Round" is a song that unravels the endless breakup and the whirlpool of recurring emotions with dreamy vocals and a harp riff. "Forest Diary" warmly captures the inner loneliness and emotional waves encountered in a quiet moment, as if opening a diary left in the forest.
Based on city pop, "Magic Spell" expresses the intense attraction as if under the spell of love, and its melody, repeated like an incantation, leaves a deep aftertaste. "Breakdown" depicts the emotions that come after collapse with restrained vocals and harp sounds, and the final track "To. Love" sketches faint hope reemerging at the end of love, like a letter quietly written by a healed heart.
The physical album increases its collectibility with a two-stage digipak, a 20-page booklet and artwork packaging. The booklet includes some sentences personally penned by Shim So-jung alongside artwork that depicts the textures of emotions in separate pieces, serving as a personal archive that contains traces of the emotions she has gone through as well as the music.
Meanwhile, the music is available on all major streaming platforms.<
