'2025 MAMA AWARDS' two of the four grand prize winners have been revealed.
On the 28th at Hong Kong's Kai Tak Stadium, '2025 MAMA AWARDS (hereinafter MAMA Awards)' was held.
The K-pop flagship awards ceremony 'MAMA Awards', which has continued for 26 years, will be held over the 28th and 29th with actors Park Bo-gum and Kim Hye-su hosting the first and second days respectively. However, an emergency was declared after a large fire broke out on the 26th at 'Wong Fuk Court', a 32-story residential high-rise apartment complex in the Tai Po district in northern Hong Kong. So far the fire has resulted in 128 deaths and 79 injuries, and the toll may increase.
In response, MAMA Awards said, "We will prepare time to share grief and mourn together, and contribute through donations to support victims," and decided to carefully consider the overall stage composition and proceedings so the performances would convey comfort and hope rather than lavish production.
The ceremony proceeded in an overall subdued atmosphere, seemingly mindful of the Hong Kong fire disaster. Host Park Bo-gum said, "There was a very tragic accident. I express my deep condolences to everyone who lost not only precious lives but also beloved family and friends in this incident. I earnestly hope there will be no further harm, and I believe in the healing and solidarity that music brings. Through the stage I want to offer comfort and hope and give some strength to move forward."
Presenters An Eun-jin, Jo Han-gyeol, Cho Sae-ho, Choi Dae-hoon, Jang Doyoun, Jeon Yeo-been, Ju Jihoon, Lee Jun-hyuk, Lee Jun-young, Park Hyung-sik, a person surnamed Noh, Shin Hyun-ji and others joined the wave of mourning and tribute. Lee Jun-young said, "I will pray that today's pain will be healed as soon as possible," and a person surnamed Noh said, "I hope the sorrow we face can be comforted even a little, and I will present the award with everyone's heart." Lee Jun-hyuk said, "I was praying for Hong Kong before coming to this place and at this moment," expressing his sorrow, and Ju Jihoon said, "I offer deep condolences to all those suffering from this unexpected great sorrow. I share the same sentiment with 'Support Hongkong' to overcome this sorrow through the influence of music."
