The group IVE won the favorite global performance award at the 2025 MAMA Awards.
On the 28th, the 2025 MAMA Awards were held at Hong Kong's Kai Tak Stadium.
The MAMA Awards, a representative K-pop ceremony continuing for 26 years, this year features actors Park Bo-gum and Kim Hye-soo serving as hosts on the first and second days respectively, and takes place over the 28th and 29th. However, a large fire broke out on the 26th at Wang Fuk Court, a 32-story residential high-rise apartment complex in Tai Po district in northern Hong Kong, putting the event on alert.
In response, the MAMA Awards said they would "create a time to share sorrow and mourn together, and contribute through donations to support the victims," and decided to be careful with overall stage composition and proceedings so the performances would convey comfort and hope rather than glamorous production.
Actor Lee Jun-hyuk, who appeared to present the favorite global performance award, expressed deep condolences, saying, "Even before coming to this place and at this very moment, I am praying for Hong Kong. I hope the support and comfort from many people, including myself, reach them."
IVE, which won the favorite global performance award, said, "We want to thank DIVE for giving us this wonderful award. We will not forget that we can always grow thanks to your support. We want to express deep consolation and condolences regarding the recent tragic accident that occurred in Hong Kong. We hope for the swift recovery and peace of all those affected."
Before the MAMA Awards, IVE said, "We learned the tragic news that a large fire occurred recently in Hong Kong causing great damage to many people, and we feel deep sorrow and pain," and donated 500,000 Hong Kong dollars.
