The group Hearts2Hearts and Cortis embraced the rookie award trophy for the 2025 MAMA AWARDS.
On the 28th, the 2025 MAMA AWARDS (hereinafter MAMA Awards) were held at Hong Kong's Kai Tak Stadium.
The MAMA Awards, a representative K-pop ceremony that has continued for 26 years, declared an emergency after a large fire broke out on the 26th at Wang Fuk Court, a 32-story residential high-rise apartment complex in the Tai Po district in northern Hong Kong. The MAMA Awards said, "We will prepare a time to share sorrow and mourn together, and we intend to contribute through donations to support the victims," and decided to be careful with the overall stage composition and proceedings so the performance could deliver comfort and hope rather than extravagant production.
Actor Ahn Eun-jin appeared to present the rookie award, "Best New Artist." Ahn Eun-jin said, "I hope the music we encounter today becomes courage and strength, and I add my heart to that. I have been a genuine fan who liked K-pop from childhood to now, and it's amazing that your sincere support for the artists is the same as mine. Not only people who love music but also those who need the warm power of music may be here; I hope sincere efforts are meaningfully delivered to those in need."
The first recipient of "Best New Artist" was Cortis. Cortis said, "We express deep condolences to the victims affected by this Hong Kong fire," and added, "We offer deep condolences to those who lost their lives in this fire. It is an honor to receive such a major award even though it has not been 100 days since our debut," and, "The rookie award is something you can receive only once in your life, so it is meaningful; we thank our fans who always support us."
Hearts2Hearts said, "Our goal for this year was to win the rookie award, but we didn't expect to receive it; we are happy and honored. We believe this was possible because there are eight of us, and we will look in one direction and rise higher," and added, "We express deep condolences to the victims and those who lost their lives in the Hong Kong fire disaster."
