Actor Kim Young-dae shared his feelings ahead of military enlistment and his anticipation of becoming even newer after discharge.
Kim Young-dae sat for an interview on the 25th at a cafe in Sogyeok-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul for the TVING original Dear X (written by Choi Ja-won and Ban Ji-woon, directed by Lee Eung-bok and Park So-hyun).
Dear X depicts the story of a woman who wears a mask to rise from hell to the highest place and the Xs cruelly trampled by her. It is a melodrama of the woman's ruin, who hides a cruel true nature behind a beautiful face, and a man's desperate yet beautiful ruin who chose hell to protect her.
Kim Young-dae played Yoon Jun-seo, a man who believes salvation is love, delivering a deeper melodramatic performance. He walked through any muck for Baek A-jin (Kim Yoo-jung), but while playing Yoon Jun-seo, whose everything he had protected began to shake before love, Kim Young-dae went beyond the cold and chic image he had shown so far and convincingly portrayed a character with a complex inner life, showing more mature acting skills.
With Kim Young-dae's performance, Dear X ranked high on overseas OTT platforms such as HBO Max across 17 Asian countries, and in particular reached No. 1 in parts of Southeast Asia. He continued, It feels like one chapter is ending. After discharge I want to try roles I am greedy for that I can do well. After discharge, if there is a work I want to do, I want to read for it and even audition to do it. I have an ambition to expand my acting world a little more.
In particular, Kim Young-dae said, I have things I felt through trial and error in my twenties, and through these I will gain maturity and savvy, and after discharge I want to return to my initial intention and show the passion and energy of that time.
