Actor Park Bo-gum expressed deep sorrow for the victims of the Hong Kong fire disaster before the start of the '2025 MAMA AWARDS'.

The representative K-pop awards ceremony 'MAMA Awards', which has continued for 26 years, will be held over the 28th and 29th with actors Park Bo-gum and Kim Hye-su serving as hosts on the first and second days, respectively. However, an emergency arose for the event after a large fire broke out at 'Wang Fuk Court', a 32-story residential high-rise apartment complex in Tai Po district in northern Hong Kong, on the 26th.

On the first day, host Park Bo-gum wore a black suit with a mourning ribbon. With a calm voice he announced the start and said, "MAMA is greeting Hong Kong again after seven years. Many people have been waiting, but a very regrettable accident occurred. I express deep condolences to all those who lost not only precious lives but also their beloved family and friends in this accident. I earnestly hope there will be no further damage and will hold a moment of silence."
He continued, "I prepared this event with a heavy but responsible heart. We believe in the power of music. Believing in music's healing and solidarity, through the stage we want to offer comfort and hope and give some strength to move forward. Furthermore, we want to convey the message 'support hongkong' so that we can remember this pain with the world and share sincere consolation. We will contribute through donations to support the victims. We would appreciate your warm support as well," adding, "The stages we have prepared for a long time will begin. All artists will do their best to present the best performances. I hope the sincerity contained in the stages is delivered to you intact."
