Rookie actress Kim Dan is drawing attention as a newcomer to watch this year after confirming a KBS one-act play appearance following her screen debut in the film 'Night on Earth'.
Kim Dan will meet viewers as Oh Min-woo in "kimchi," one of the KBS2 one-act project "Love: Track" series directed by Lee Young-seo and written by Kang Han, which premieres next month.
"Love: Track" is a romance anthology containing 10 love stories of different shapes, and the installment to be presented, "kimchi," depicts trust and love within a family centered on the perspective of mother Young-mi. In the process, the situations faced by mother Young-mi and son Min-woo respectively increasingly lead to strange connections, creating various moving narratives.
In the drama, Kim Dan plays Oh Min-woo, a young man busy juggling two tasks—writing a thesis and preparing for employment—just before graduating from university. Expectations are rising over what other faces and concerns of youth Kim Dan will portray through Oh Min-woo.
Kim Dan made her debut on the small screen playing Moon-ung in the SBS Friday-Saturday drama "Try: We Become a Miracle," which ended amid much discussion this year. Portraying Moon-ung, a newcomer to the Hanyang Physical Education High School rugby team who runs toward his dream, Kim Dan vividly brought the character's narrative to life and rapidly rose as a new face representing youth dramas.
With notable performances in her debut work, she quickly attracted attention and has confirmed an appearance in the film 'Night on Earth,' marking her impending screen debut. "Night on Earth" is set against a society thrown into chaos by the appearance of mutated jellyfish, and Kim Dan will transform into a precarious character, Su, a reclusive young man living in a bathtub.
Thus, Kim Dan firmly made her mark in her debut year and confirmed roles in two consecutive projects, proving her potential to grow into a dominant actor.
Meanwhile, Kim Dan's screen debut film 'Night on Earth' wrapped filming last October and has entered post-production aiming for release, and the one-act project "Love: Track" featuring "kimchi" will be released from Nov. 14 to 28, airing two episodes each Sunday at 10:50 p.m. and Wednesday at 9:50 p.m.
