Baby V.O.X alums Kan Mi-yeon and Yoon Eun-hye opened up about the reality hidden behind their peak-era glamour, drawing empathy.
Recently on KBS2's "Immortal Songs," part two of the "glorious return special" unfolded. That day MC Lee Chan-won greeted Kan Mi-yeon with "Baby V.O.X was the best when I was in elementary school" as soon as he saw her, and Kan Mi-yeon recalled the explosive overseas popularity she received at the time. In particular, Kan Mi-yeon said, "As a first-generation Hallyu act I was invited by the president of Mongolia. After the concert, each member was given a ger and 1,000 pyeong of land as a gift."
But the glamorous memories did not last long. Kan Mi-yeon added the bittersweet backstory with a laugh, saying, "When the business was halted, the land documents all became scraps of paper. If we had received them, I wouldn't be on broadcast now and would be traveling."
As Lee Chan-won and the panelists could not hide their surprise, Kan Mi-yeon said of the Baby V.O.X days, "We traveled to schedules by helicopter," and Jo Jang-hyuk provoked laughter by saying, "We were given motorcycle courier service."

On the K 27 broadcast of MBC's "Save Me! Homes," Yoon Eun-hye candidly confessed the real hardships she faced during her Baby V.O.X years.
Yoon Eun-hye recalled her childhood, saying, "We moved so many times." She added, "We didn't live comfortably. We started from one pyeong and gradually grew, but there was a time when I didn't even have my own room and the house had no bathroom," and confessed, "I grew up in a house where the water meter didn't even turn because only a drop of water fell. It was so hard when I was young that it's still a trauma."
She also said that unlike the glamour of their peak, Baby V.O.X's activities were not easy. Yoon Eun-hye said, "Baby V.O.X was in the red. There were many fraudulent shows, and the members all lived like household heads," and added, "The story about Mongolian land documents turned out to be groundless because foreigners can't own land." Hwang Chan-sung and Jang Dong-min were also unable to hide their surprise at Yoon Eun-hye's frank confession.
The image of Baby V.O.X that the public knew was always glamorous. But the real stories that came from Kan Mi-yeon and Yoon Eun-hye showed the harsh environments and the burdens they had to bear at a young age, as heavy as their popularity then.
