Broadcaster Kim Won-hee revealed on air why she and her spouse have lived as DINKs for 21 years after marriage.
Kim Won-hee was shown moved as she watched Carrie, who was adopted to the United States, look for her family on MBN's "Puzzle Trip," which aired on the 27th.
Kim Won-hee said, "I'm also one son and four daughters," adding, "Because there's a strong family bond, I think, 'How much would the older sister want to find her younger sibling?'" She added, "She would want to see her parents, but she would also want to see her older sister."
Kim Won-hee became choked up seeing the adoption consent papers written by Carrie's mother. Kim said, "About 15 years ago, one day I had a dream," adding, "Running a childcare facility became my vision."
She continued, "This is my first time saying this on air. In our 20s, before getting married, I discussed it with my husband," adding, "We said, 'Let's not have a baby and adopt,' and my husband readily agreed," she confessed.
She said, "After getting married I also did childcare work, and while doing that, adopting was good, but I felt even more that I would rather create a facility and 'take care of many children,'" adding, "We four sisters all obtained childcare-related certifications, and my younger siblings are also preparing for social worker licenses." She added, "Without realizing it my heart went in that direction, so when I was asked whether I would do this program, I readily said I would."
Kim Won-hee married photographer Son Hyuk-chan, who is two years older, in 2005. On tvN's "You Quiz on the Block" last year, Kim said her younger brother has been battling epilepsy for more than 30 years, adding, "That became the reason I obtained a social worker license."
