Broadcaster Cho Sae-ho revealed that he has been going to a psychiatric clinic and receiving medication.
On the 26th, on tvN's You Quiz on the Block, psychiatrist Lee Kyung-joon appeared and talked about the protagonist "Director General Kim," who suffers from panic disorder, in the drama The Dream Life of Mr. Kim. Lee said, "The protagonist of the 'Director General Kim' drama is exactly the kind of case that comes to the hospital," adding, "People who have lived with a strong drive for achievement, looking only forward until the age of Director General, tend to experience loss when they reach their 50s." He went on to explain, "It's a time when, as the sense of loss accumulates, the things they had been turning away from rush in all at once."
Lee said, "When Director Generals come in for counseling, they don't say things as they are," adding, "Most come in for panic symptoms or anxiety, and even those experiencing moderate or more severe depressive symptoms say, 'I am not depressed at all.'" He continued, "Because the moment they acknowledge depression, it feels like life has failed and evaporated," adding, "There are many cases where they downplay what they are actually going through."
At that, Cho Sae-ho said, "That's why I say everything," adding, "I go to a psychiatric clinic and take medication."
Cho Sae-ho said, "While working, there are various headaches, and at first I was afraid to go to the hospital," adding, "Still, I thought, wouldn't I get better if I went to the hospital? Wouldn't I be able to spend my time more healthily?"
Agreeing with Cho Sae-ho, Lee said, "Director Generals, too, for the first time in their lives, should try making choices for themselves to feel at ease," adding, "It's good to get rid of the aversion to psychiatric treatment."
