Nam Ji-hyun continues her invincible record in historical dramas with To My Beloved Thief.
KBS2's new Saturday-Sunday miniseries To My Beloved Thief (writer Lee Seon, director Ham Young-geol, produced by Studio Dragon), which will premiere Jan. 3, 2026, at 9:20 p.m., is a drama about a woman who became the greatest thief in the land, the general who chased her, and how the two swap souls, save each other and ultimately protect the people in a dangerous and great romance.
In the drama, Nam Ji-hyun plays Hong Eun-jo, a female medical practitioner and thief with the name Gil-dong. Although Hong Eun-jo is an eolnyeo (a daughter born between a nobleman and a commoner), she possesses a firm character that does not easily yield to the powerful. She is an example of the era's "ganggangyagyak" (strong to the strong, gentle to the weak), who devotes herself to caring for the weak.
By day she is an angel at the Hyeminseo who nurses the sick, and by night she is the thief Gil-dong who steals from corrupt officials' granaries to help the people, living a busy 24-hour life when an unexpected event happens to Hong Eun-jo. She becomes entwined by fate with Imyeol, Prince Dowoldae, who has been chasing Gil-dong (Mun Sang-min). Attention is focused on Hong Eun-jo's future, who will steal not only the people's hearts but also the heart of the prince inside the palace.
In the released photos, the people can see at a glance the double life of Eun-jo, the beloved medical practitioner, drawing attention. She shares warmth with people with a sunlike bright smile, but when night falls she holds Gil-dong's mask in her hand and displays a resolute expression, making her identity all the more intriguing.
In particular, a different side of Hong Eun-jo dressed in fine silk was also captured. Emitting an elegant grace not unlike a noble family's young lady, curiosity grows about the reason Hong Eun-jo had no choice but to become the people's friend, the righteous thief Gil-dong.
The story of Hong Eun-jo, who has a heart as fine as silk, will come to life even more through the distinctive presence of historical drama mainstay Nam Ji-hyun. Nam Ji-hyun's Hong Eun-jo, expected to be a trustworthy performance at the center of the work with natural emotional expression and solid character acting, is eagerly anticipated.
