"The master key to save theaters", "the best animated sequel ever" and other explosive praise since its release, the film "Zootopia 2" rose to an overwhelming No. 1 on the overall box office on its opening day.
Zootopia 2, which has held the overwhelming No. 1 reservation rate for six consecutive days, drew 300,000 viewers on its opening day, beginning an explosive run at the box office.
According to the Korean Film Council's integrated box office system, Zootopia 2 drew 309,210 viewers on its opening day, the 26th (Wed), surpassing Wicked: For Good and Now You See Me 3 to take No. 1 on the overall box office.
This not only far exceeded the opening-day scores of Disney sequel animations that continued the hot praise, Moana 2 (196,876) and Inside Out 2 (194,831), but it also drew attention for being about nine times the opening score of the previous film Zootopia (35,604).
It also ranks as the second-highest opening score among Disney animated films, following Frozen 2's opening score of 606,618, proving the eager anticipation and love of domestic audiences for Zootopia 2. In addition, explosive praise continues with a 94% freshness score on Rotten Tomatoes and a 98% egg score on CGV, drawing attention to its future box office performance. From its opening day, Zootopia 2, which has sparked a "Zootopia" syndrome in Korea by rising to the overwhelming No. 1 overall box office, is a sequel returning after nine years.
