T-ara alum Ham Eun-jung is taking on a new challenge this week ahead of her marriage to director Kim Byung-woo.
MBC's new daytime drama "First Man" released the first still of Ham Eun-jung, who has perfectly transformed into her ultra-resilient twin older sister Oh Jang-mi, drawing attention.
MBC's new daytime drama "First Man" (planning: Jang Jae-hoon/director: Kang Tae-heum/writers: Seo Hyun-joo, An Jin-young/produced by MBC C&I, DK Entertainment) released the first character stills of Ham Eun-jung, who plays twin sisters Oh Jang-mi and Ma Seo-rin at the same time. From a bright, warm smile to a determined look as she runs toward her dreams, Ham Eun-jung, who has fully immersed herself in the character of Oh Jang-mi, raises expectations for her dual role performance to a peak.
"First Man" is a drama that depicts a deadly showdown between a woman who lived someone else's life for revenge and a woman who stole someone else's life for her own desire. Through this work, Ham Eun-jung takes on the most daring challenge of her career so far: playing two roles. By simultaneously portraying twin sisters Oh Jang-mi and Ma Seo-rin, she will vividly depict two characters who have lived completely different lives because of their tangled fates.
The newly released still captures the twin older sister Oh Jang-mi, who has a bright, warm personality and strong life skills. To realize her dream of opening her own restaurant, Oh Jang-mi works so many part-time jobs that ten bodies would not be enough, yet she never loses her warm heart and positive energy. The still vividly captures the lively charm of Oh Jang-mi, a "maxed-out survival" character who takes on all kinds of part-time work for her dream, making it hard to look away.
The first still captures Oh Jang-mi serving customers at a restaurant with a radiant smile like sunlight; even wearing crude glasses, her sparkling eyes reveal her passion for her dream. In another still, she is seen skillfully handling a bicycle helmet and organizing a delivery bag, showing Oh Jang-mi's busy daily life and seeming to convey her unwavering positivity despite harsh realities. Especially, from restaurant work to delivery part-time jobs, Oh Jang-mi's steadfast side—consistently diligent while juggling countless part-time jobs for her dream—makes audiences root even more for her future growth and challenges.
The production team said, "Ham Eun-jung has fully immersed herself in the twin sisters Oh Jang-mi and Ma Seo-rin and is showing astonishing acting. Although they share the same face, Ham Eun-jung's transformation between two completely different characters will itself provide intense immersion," and added, "From the tough but righteous and hopeful Oh Jang-mi to the divergent fates that will unfold for the twin sisters, you can look forward to the explosive synergy of Ham Eun-jung's dual role."
Meanwhile, MBC's new daytime drama "First Man" will premiere on Dec. 15 (Mon) as the follow-up to The Woman Who Swallowed the Sun.
