Hip-hop artist Verbal (VERBAL (m-flo)), who led the J-POP syndrome, will appear on "HipPop Princess".
According to Mnet's Unpretty Rapstar: HipPop Princess (hereafter "HipPop Princess"), Verbal joins the "special producer new song mission," which opens with the fourth track competition. In addition to directly participating in the newly released song production, he will also serve as a judge alongside Soyeon, Gaeko, Riehata and Iwata Takanori.
Verbal (VERBAL), a member of the Japanese hip-hop duo m-flo, debuted in 1999 with the single album the tripod e.p. and is an artist who led the renaissance of J-hip hop by releasing numerous hit songs. He played a major role in establishing the "featuring" culture in Japan in the early 2000s and has collaborated widely with numerous domestic artists.
Meanwhile, news of Verbal joining as a special producer has raised expectations further. The songs Verbal introduced this time are a remake of the 2004 track the Love Bug, which BoA participated in as a featured artist, in a "HipPop Princess" version, and a new song prepared for this program. He said, "I participated as a special producer on 'HipPop Princess' this time, and being able to feel the participants' energy and tension directly in the studio while judging was a very valuable experience."
Above all, he emphasized that he was deeply impressed by the participants' outstanding producing skills. Verbal said, "The overall level was so high that honestly it was really difficult to rank them. Each team and participant certainly had moments where their skills shone, and the experience of watching their rapid growth in a short time from video judging to the studio's main shoot was also breathtaking," expressing continuous admiration for the participants' abilities.
He added, "Although I was in the position of a judge, there were multiple moments when I was instead inspired," and "I sincerely thank them for giving me a wonderful time." Expectations are pouring in for the new stage of "HipPop Princess," which will heat up with Verbal's joining.
Meanwhile, the first track and title song of "HipPop Princess," Do my thang (Princess Ver.), is resonating not only in Korea but also overseas. Backed by main producer Gaeko, the song showcases the explosive potential and energy of the Korean and Japanese participants, and it has entered Shazam's Discovery Japan chart at No. 3, gaining popularity.
Building daily and growing word of mouth, "HipPop Princess" airs every Thursday at 9:50 p.m. (KST) on Mnet and is available in Japan through U-NEXT.
