(Following interview ①) Actress Seo Min-ju revealed behind-the-scenes details of her preparation for acting in "Informant".
On the 26th at a café in Hapjeong-dong, Seoul, an interview was held with Seo Min-ju, one of the lead actors of the film "Informant".
The film "Informant" (written and directed by Kim Seok, provided by NS ENM, produced by Popcorn Film, distributed by Movie City SMC) is a crime action comedy about Nam-hyeok Oh (Heo Seong-tae), a once ace detective who lost his passion, will and investigative instincts after being demoted, and informant Tae-bong Jo (Jo Bok-rae), who had been pocketing illicit money by providing information on major cases, who by chance get involved in a big scheme.
That day Seo Min-ju, who passionately played the detective "Lee So-young" in the film, talked about the character acting behind the scenes, saying, "Being a detective is an unfamiliar profession that you don't normally encounter. I wondered how to handle it. At the time, all I could do was search, look for films, things like that. Then I got a source. Someone suggested visiting a police station."
She continued, "After much inquiry I made a connection and went to the narcotics investigation team to observe and learn a lot. There were no female detectives there. I mainly went to see how the detectives worked. So I also did a separate interview with a female detective. That helped a bit," she recalled.
She recalled, "It was a detail, but detectives don't carry bags. They have everything on their belts. Only the youngest carries a bag. Also, detectives don't wear heavy things. Even if they come wearing a coat, they change into windbreakers. I got sources for external things like that, and details on how they conduct investigations. I think I observed those."
In particular, Seo Min-ju said, "When I interviewed the female detective, she was very soft-spoken. Later I followed her to work. She was completely different. She spoke very gently, but when we went together to the market to check CCTV and she talked with the manager, her posture at work was a bit different. That was fascinating," drawing attention.
Seo Min-ju also laughed and said, "I didn't even wear makeup to express it really naturally. I didn't lose weight, and the director told me not to lose weight. So I ate late-night snacks a lot, but I gradually lost weight during filming. Honestly, now when I watch the film, I'm not very happy with how I look. At the time it was a detective role. I thought no makeup was right, so I went natural. I liked it, and I thought it fit the character. But now I wonder, 'Should I have lost a little weight?,'" which elicited laughter.
