Actors Jeong Bo-seok, Kim Young-chul and Ha Ji-won, among other junior actors, will take part in the funeral service for the late Lee Soon-jae.
According to the Korea Broadcasting and Popular Arts Organizations Federation on the 26th, Lee Soon-jae's funeral service will be held at 5:30 a.m. on the 27th on the first floor of Asan Medical Center's funeral hall.
At the service, actor Jeong Bo-seok will serve as master of ceremonies, and Kim Young-chul and Ha Ji-won will read eulogies. The send-off is at 6:20 a.m. the same day, and the burial site is Eden Paradise in Icheon, Gyeonggi Province.
Lee Soon-jae passed away in the early hours of the 25th. He was 91. He had appeared most recently last year in the KBS 2TV drama "Gaesori" and the play "Waiting for Godot to wait for," but he withdrew from the play in October due to health issues and suspended activities. He won the grand prize at the KBS Drama Awards earlier this year, becoming the oldest recipient in history, which added significance, but he could not be seen again at official events afterward.
To honor the late actor who communicated with the public through acting into his nineties, the funeral is being held by the president of the artists' association with the consent of the bereaved family. In addition, a space has been prepared at the KBS annex in Yeouido, Seoul, where the general public can pay their respects, adding further significance.
On the 25th, the late actor was posthumously awarded the Order of Cultural Merit, Geumgwan. Minister Chae Hwi-young of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism presented the medal to the bereaved family.
