Singer DinDin protested that it was unfair that he was labeled a "conscientious celebrity" after he recently made a pointed remark to the effect that "celebrities have no sense of economics."
DinDin appeared as a guest on the web variety show Salon Drip, released on the YouTube channel TEO on Jan. 25.
Recently, DinDin drew attention as a "conscientious celebrity" after criticizing celebrities' sense of economics on the web variety show Workman. At the time, while filming content about working part-time at a cafe, Lee Joon said, "You're a branch manager, so don't you make 10 million won a month?" Then DinDin said, "This is the problem with celebrities. They have no concept of currency value. They drive supercars and use Jennie beds and all that. They've lost it," a blunt comment that became a hot topic.
In the video released that day, Jang Doyoun noted that the public was responding positively after the remark and asked, "Is this your takeoff period now?" DinDin answered, "Yes," but added, "It's really unfair. I suddenly became a conscientious celebrity. But I'm the same (then and now)." He went on, "In the past, people hated me just for breathing, but now when I say the same things, people praise me as a conscientious celebrity."
DinDin also said, "I've become the 'icon of currency value.' I'm going crazy," adding, "If I wear expensive clothes, people go, 'Whoa, that T-shirt is 400,000 won.'" He continued, "I think you need to know how the world works," and said, "There's no particular reason I shouldn't spend."
