A touching story that the late actor Lee Soon-jae took care of the child actor he once filmed with is receiving attention.
Child actor-turned-actor Jung Ji-hoon posted photos on his personal social media on the 26th showing moments he shared with the late Lee Soon-jae. The released photos included stills from the film "Deok-gu" in which the two appeared together and moments showing the grown Jung Ji-hoon visiting Lee Soon-jae's theater waiting room and smiling brightly as they shared updates, drawing attention.
In this regard, Jung Ji-hoon recalled his memories with Lee Soon-jae, saying, "To me, teacher was an incomparable example. He personally selected me, who was so small and young, in the final audition and taught me faith and love as an actor while filming together."
He especially emphasized, "He made me resolve to love the art of acting for life, he gave me boundless courage whenever I wanted to give up, and he taught me the belief that one must always strive humbly and never stop improving. On set he always showed these things himself with good words and actions."
He added, "Last fall, when I visited after the play ended, even though it had been years since he had seen my face, he greeted me so brightly and said, 'You will one day become a representative actor of Korea.' I remember those words. I will live according to his teachings so I can keep what he said," and added, "Thank you for giving me honorable moments and dreams," evoking deep emotion.
Lee Soon-jae passed away in the early hours of the 25th. He was 91. The wake has been set up in Room 30 of the Asan Medical Center funeral hall in Seoul. After consulting with the bereaved family, the funeral will be held with the president of the Artists Association presiding. The funeral service will be held on the 27th, and the burial site is Eden Paradise in Icheon. A public condolence space for ordinary citizens to pay respects has also been set up at the KBS annex in Yeouido, Seoul.
