The ultimate welfare bonus, island caretaker, and helicopter musterer made the list of the top three "dream jobs that make you want to hand in your resignation," chosen by debut colleagues Jang Seong-gyu·Kang Ji-young·Kim Dae-ho.
On the 24th episode of T-cast E Channel's Hana-buteo Yeol-kaji, announcer alumni debut colleagues Jang Seong-gyu·Kang Ji-young·Kim Dae-ho delved into the 10 "dream jobs" so attractive they could make someone quit their job on the spot. The three, reunited after a long time, called themselves the "freelancer world's KOYOTE" and unleashed their variety show chemistry. Jang Seong-gyu played Kim Jong-min, Kim Dae-ho played Paikga, and Kang Ji-young played Shinji, creating charming chemistry. Especially Kim Dae-ho, who rose to prominence after declaring himself freelance, sincerely said to "free agent of six years" Jang Seong-gyu, "I feel you're even more amazing these days. I've only been freelance for nine months, and I think you really endured," evoking emotion. Meanwhile, to "freelance junior" Kang Ji-young, he jokingly scolded, "You still have some announcer tone left," setting off laughter.
The No. 1 dream job summoned an American real estate company that paid an unimaginably generous special bonus. To celebrate achieving its biggest goal since founding, the company gave each employee an average bonus of about 60 million won, with the maximum amount reaching as high as 320 million won. The studio buzzed with shock and envy at the revelation that the company "flexed" a total of 11.9 billion won in year-end bonuses alone. Seeing this, Kim Dae-ho reacted with a mix of excitement and jealousy, saying, "That makes work worth it! You put everything into it! There's no way to come back!" The three unanimously and strongly recommended it as their No. 1 choice, saying, "There's no room for improvement."
In second place was "island caretaker," a job that tens of thousands apply for even though bad weather can cut off ferry access and leave them isolated for a week, and where there is no electricity, water or Wi-Fi in extreme conditions. Viewers marveled at the "life-level rewards" that money can't buy, such as a perfect sunset after all the tourists have left and dolphins greeting you in front of your house. Third place went to "helicopter musterer," who pilots helicopters across vast ranches to herd hundreds or thousands of cattle. Using rotor noise and wind to locate and control herds, this job—called "sky cowboy"—delivers a thrilling adrenaline rush. But because of the high risk of accidents, it was also described as a "life-risking job," adding tension.
Jang Seong-gyu expressed strong interest in "snake venom extractor," a job where a 0.1-second mistake can mean death but which directly contributes to saving human lives. This job, which subdues venomous snakes such as cobras and rattlesnakes by hand to extract venom, has high utility from developing drugs for hypertension and cancer to research on Alzheimer's disease and stroke. As of 2020 in the U.S., the annual salary was about 160 million won. Jang Seong-gyu said, "My dream salary was 100 million won. Maybe I could achieve it with practice," showing interest.
Also revealed were quirky jobs around the world such as infidelity eradication specialist, haunted house inspector, Disneyland character performer, Statue of Liberty torch manager, Road View tracker, and Alaskan crab fisherman. When Jang Seong-gyu asked, "Have you thought about changing careers?" Kim Dae-ho replied, "I decided to quit because I wanted to live a more diverse and fun life. I'm ready to change jobs anytime," drawing attention again. He added, "I think I could start as a Road View tracker right now," raising anticipation for a new transformation.
