(Following interview ①) The EXchange / Transit Love 4 producer drew a line on favoring a specific cast member.
Kim In-ha, the producer directing the TVING original entertainment show EXchange / Transit Love 4, met domestic reporters at the CJ ENM Center in Sangam-dong, Mapo-gu, Seoul, on the 24th. At the meeting, he talked about the recently released EXchange / Transit Love 4 and discussed EXchange / Transit Love 4, which has passed the midpoint and is showing mid-to-late narratives.
Although EXchange / Transit Love 4 features cast members with various charms, recent developments prompted viewers' complaints that a specific cast member was being favored. In showing the characters' backstories, the stories of the 'X lovers' were given significant weight, to the point that Hyunji and Baekhyun's past took up most of an episode ??.
Kim In-ha firmly denied favoring a specific cast member, calling it "the most painful thing," and said, "All cast members want to be loved and we want all cast members to be loved, so there cannot be special affection for a particular cast member."
Of course, he also said, "I thought Baekhyun was a very attractive person." But he explained, "Baekhyun's charm came out very much at that time, so I think Baekhyun continued to be visible and loved afterward," and added, "We try to point out the couple or person emphasized in each episode."
In particular, Kim In-ha said, "In this season as well, we met more than 1,000 people in face-to-face interviews during the cast selection process. We did far more interviews via direct message and phone. We have not precisely counted the total number of people we contacted. We contacted some people again because those we had tried to recruit in previous seasons might be in new relationships or might have broken up," emphasizing the desperate recruitment process.
He continued, "The most important criterion amid that was 'character.' Since our cast members live together during the retreat, we thought people with problematic character would be unable to participate in the shared living. It would cause too much stress and create special situations. We tried not to rely on one or two interviews: we called, had meals when necessary, and through frequent meetings made the cast feel comfortable with us, then observed how they behaved."
Kim In-ha added, "When we recruited a cast member, we discussed who would be the person X who was most loved or the person with whom they would want to talk or appear together and whose past they would want to reveal. Or even if they hadn't loved someone the most, we looked for people who had stories from past relationships they wanted to resolve."
EXchange / Transit Love 4 is released every Wednesday at 8 p.m.
